If you really need to be told, the 25% punishment tariff is for being 'lovey dovey' with the US and kissing the Russian at the same time, it is called two-faced; that's what US don't like. China is not the same, they are not an ally of the US, so no such as thing as punishing China for cheating. They are hit by tariffs for completely different reasons. India should mind their own business rather than wishing the same misfortune also happens to someone else.

The difference between China and India is roughly 14 trillion dollars and growing, add to that they have the most advanced manufacturing capacity, tech, rare earths, growing AI and military as well as treasury bills just to name a few that gives them enormous leverage!!! India does not have a single one of those, I know it’s hard for Bharat to accept that they are not in the same tier as China but if you don’t get why America gives special treatment to China then you are not paying attention. As a Chinese, I think there is another reason why US is on India. China import Russian oil for self use, but India makes huge money by importing Russian oil and reselling it to Europe. US is not happy you compete with their business.

Not really, China of 1990/2000s supported USA, kept a long distance with Russia despite being a communist state. USA slowly opted for cheaper products, funded their manufacturing. Because of this China grew its wealth and is now in a position to flex its muscles. Indias overall political system is weak, democracy and freedom often merged to become anarchy which is not good for any kind of progress. That culture is still there, it will take time to change that.

You must please understand that the Chinese government is very different to our government in India. Over there you cannot protest or say anything against the government and if the government wants anything done they do it without any resistance. They have a closed door policy which I agree comes with self sufficiency but at a great cost to their people.
Over here it’s very different. There are opposition parties, agendas which is how democracy works but slows down progress or least hinders and create unwanted delays and therefore, to survive and make progress we need to look at the world as a global institution which has its downsides as you mention but it is what it is and therefore I say why we are not independent like China because structure of society is different then ours but this does not mean their system is better then ours ! No way !
No two civilizations are same.
They are doing their best and we are doing our best but to say why India always looked to the West and this is why we are not self sufficient is incorrect.
But all I can say is that Thank God I don’t have a communist government in my country.

India has limitations. India's GDP is still growing because of its very low individual average earnings. To become a rich nation, India must be able to produce high-value products. They might be able to do something, but they have not shown that they can do that.
One of the problems India has is the rich and powerful Indians don't consider the poorer Indians as people. That tiny fraction of rich Indians believe India is a superpower in both economically and militarily.
On the economy, as long as Modi and his selfish cronies are making money, they care less about the poor suffering.
On the military side, they thought they spent huge bucks to purchase military equipment from abroad, and India would be in the same class as Russia and the USA. Their former leader, Jawaharlal Nehru, mentioned that India was the 3rd most powerful military in the world after the USA and the Soviet unx. As of now, Modi and many Indians still believe what Nehru said.

When India really regards China as a friendly neighbor rather than a threat, the US will start treating India with some respect. As long as India pivots to China only from a opportunist perspective, the status of India will not improve because Trump knows too well that Modi's visit China is only a hollow gesture or a pale protest to the US tariff bullying.

China is too big to be tariffed. And US depends on China because they're buyers, not sellers. In fact, it's ironic that the buyers are setting the prices for the seller. That's why it doesn't work. The seller can always find other customers all over the world. US also doesn't have rare Earth which is why they hesitate to do anything egregious toward China. China only allows some rare Earth into US for business purpose, not militarily. I think US is now trying to negotiate for rare Earth for its military which is kind of crazy because on the one hand they preach how China is the enemy and the coming war with China and yet begging for rare Earth to build up their military? For what? To use it against the very country that help build your military? LOL. That must be a joke.
