 @KalebOfenboeck  It's easy to explain. The situation in India, where most of the population lives in extreme conditions, is referred to as a third world country. And the concept of third world countries mainly refers to Africa.

This was pretty fun.  I got them all right, but most of the questions seemed related to something the US was involved in…. If i didn’t get them right, it’d be pretty sad.    however, that said, ask the same questions on the streets in USA and you’ll likely get most of the same answers these folks gave… if I’m being honest.

Makes me wonder what Chinese kids learn in school since they spend so much time studying. 
Also it would be interesting to ask the same or similar questions in first tier cities to see if there is a difference in common knowledge.

Quite tricksy questions and I am quite impressed actually. Like America, China is a huge country and just learning that geography is a task in and of itself. Most Brits would struggle with European history and geography. Sad but true.

Young generations in all countries can not possibly know everything about history and other nations.   It is impossible! ; but It is essential that all young people in all countries be given some fundamental education in world history and politics.  If destructive conflicts and wars are to be prevented, young people in all countries must learn about other peoples and nations. Different cultures, different economic systems, different belief systems, different lifestyles, different histories......etc.......

Australian here, I had to have a bit of a chuckle at some of the answers.  I have no doubt that Chinese are quite intelligent though.   What was heartwarming was the good spirit in which they participated and also how they responded to the answers with good grace and smiles.

I believe the blogger deliberately sexted interviewees with limited knowledge. If you were to ask the same question at any high school in a major Chinese city, I'm confident that 99% of the students would be able to answer it.
