going by their track record in picking up martial arts and dance moves, I think we may get caught out by their progress in sports too. if they just equip it with a lidar that spans the entire court, it wouldn't even be a fair fight anymore. it would've calculated the trajectory before the opponents racquet even hits the ball - which is what pros do

Does the Unitree China show impress me? Not exactly no, Boston dynamics had robots doing back flips over a decade ago. These do look better, but they are small lightweight models and these are preprogrammed moves in controlled environments with many being remotely controlled. If that is all they can really do then it is just a fancy toy. What we need is robots with great hand dexterity and the ability to function autonomously in a dynamic environment. These demos look impressive but none of them display the characteristics needed to be actually useful. They are just really cool looking remote control toys.

The way it can move is impressive, but again it's just a toy being manipulated to look like much more than it really is. Show me a robot that can pickup a racket on any real world tennis court and play like this autonomously, then I will be impressed. None of these robot companies have demonstrated true autonomous function yet. Figure claim their demos are autonomous, but until I see it in a real world demo... So far I am seeing nothing but really cool looking toys. When they can truly oporate autonomously in an uncontrolled environment, then we might actually have something. It looks impressive but it's all marketing BS.

It's actually Peking University in english since thats the OG historical name and also their "brand" name that they keep on purpose to show their long continous history and also reputation as one of the best and most prestigious universities in China. It's like if you go to Harvard and then after your first year there, they change their name to New Cambridge University. You would feel cheated and no one would know its THAT prestigious harvard uni. People literally pay hundreds of thousands of dollars just for that brand name lol

Plus New Cambridge isn't that bad of a name probably because it sounds like Oxford, Cambridge, etc which is a top English Uni and just as famous as Harvard if not MORE so that was a bad example. Thats why i had to put "new" in front of it so others wont get confused since i just looked up the city where Harvard is located to compare with Beijing city. lol

Using Beijing doesn|t make it correct, so what's the point? You can start arguing with Chinese people because Cambridge is not Cambridge in Chinese but 剑桥 Jian4Qiao2.
