1. creating a war to sell weapons
2. controlling crude oil production in middle east after Venezuela
3. denting ur global competitor by cutting off its vendors.

Bottom line is who controls the flow through the  straight of Middle east Oil/Gas out and food to  the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in.  IF the UK/France/Germany join the war will Russia and China join in with Iran. Both the GCC  and Iran have water supply that can be easily  shut down.

Trump is going after Chinese allied oil producers, Russia, Venezuela and Iran. Saudi, UAE and Iraq are already under U.S control. China is looking for Canada's oil to replace Iran. We'll see what happens next.

The optics of this whole Iran adventure that the US and Israel have engaged in look terrible. A big part of China's sales pitch as I understand it is that they offer a ground under things that will not cave in when you walk on it and that the West is an overly chaotic basket case. Makes that look more true without them even having to expend effort.

So what isn't being said here is that Trump's love for Russia is the reason he attacked Venezuela to get their oil before attacking Iran. It secured US's oil/gas supply, while attacking Iran makes Russian oil more viable for India, thereby giving Trump's mate Putin some cash flow for his war. Bonus, puts pressure on Europe supplies, and shipping pressures puts a strain on China. Win win all round for Trump and Putin.

The sad thing is the US has all the fossil fuels it will ever need for the next few centuries. But instead we have to buy it from the Middle East because? Well, mostly because the environmental people are so dead set against fossil fuel’s.
That mindset has done nothing to reduce our consumption of them. We just buy them from somewhere else.
Same thing with rare earth minerals… Nobody wants to mind them here in the US because of the environmental damage. But we have zero problem with an unregulated Chinese mining industry racking the environment on their half of the world when in truth, it all gets mixed into the same environmental system.

Iran has been a manageable nusience there for 40 years the best shot at normalisation & modernisation was on the back of the JCPOA Trump tore up in 2016 a) because it had Obama s name on it b) because Israel via the Adelsons asked him too.

US will back out from this war sooner or later. This war will be costly in long run since Iran will keep on defending. Theystill have very poweful millitar arsenal even without the nuclear and  control of more than 20 percent of global oil and gas supply. US cannot really bring the regim down with force fighting against the Iranian retaliation. And who has to pay the cost?? It's common people.
