There is a joke in China that if China had chosen a democratic system, it would have become like India today. From the perspective of many Chinese, India’s entire democratic system is unhealthy. Democracy has become a tool monopolized by a small comprador class, without bringing any real improvement to the lives of the people. This is also the reason why the gap between China and India has widened over the decades – because of your system issues. You are unable to provide clean water, sufficient nutrition, and adequate education to the lowest levels of society, which leads to the majority of people being a burden rather than benefiting from a demographic dividend, unlike China.

As an African, I was so hopeful the BRICS alliance would give us southern nations a chance to unite and break free from the decades of oppression from the West. I dont get why India is so obsessed with being liked by the West. They are behaving like that kid in high school who was shunned by the popular kids in school, and now that they are being accepted, they forget the way they were treated all along. Have they forgotten the sanctions, the colonialism? Does India really think that the U.S really sees it as the future? They are just using them as a pawn in their fight against China. Have the Indians forgotten the way Japan was sanctioned into submission when they were about to take over the global auto and semiconductor industries? If they feel they need to be a so called superperpower and at odds with the global south, let them leave BRICS, I'm so disappointed at how fast India has ditched their long time friends for the bones the West is throwing at it. It's clear to everyone that the West only sees it as a tool to counter China.

The primary reason why India is subservient to the west or lean towards the west is bcos many very rich Indians have their wealth invested in the west, especially US and UK. Their businesses and careers are in the west. Therefore, they are tied to the west. India cannot decouple from the west. So, India can never be able to dedollarize bcos the Indian's economy is dependent on it - the software service industry, the data processing service industry, and the migration industry.

Thanks bro, I understand your pain. Our current leadership is a paper tiger, they have spent tax payers' money on their marketing. Today our equity market has broken a twenty eight year record of falling down for 5 months in a row. We had great leaders in past but as on today we are trapped in a chrony capitalism and current leadership is encashing on religious sentiments. We are worried for our democracy and secularism. Well, if China can go from almost poorest country on earth to 2nd largest economy (& 1st in PPP), there's no reason why India should remain a basket case forever. They only need to change out the bad leaders for competent leaders who care about the Indian people, but getting to that point and sticking with that point is always the most difficult part of governance of any country.

Indeed. Until they ACTUALLY improve their governance everything will remain a pipedream. I remember that something like 2 decades ago, when I was still a high school student, I wrote a paper for school regarding India's economy because back then I still believed in the hype. But ever since then, I've been disappointed by their lack of achievements again and again, and so that's why today I call them «The Potential that was Never Realized». And until I find evidence of India making a U-turn for structural improvements in governance that can be verified by significant improved life expectancy and (especially female) literacy rates, I will not make the same mistake again.

I worked for Japanese electronics manufacturer. It was always a problem dealing with Indian companies. Bharat is just worst. They are possibly the worst paymasters. P.S I was in Account Receivables. 6 years dealing with them, I resigned and never wanted to work in AR again.

The MacMohan Line drawn by Britain as the border between China and the then British India was never accepted by China although Britain tried to enforce it. After Britain left India, China approached India for a discussion to settle the border but India refused; insisting on the MacMohan line.

I'm from South Africa and of so called Indian Origin and my wife and I went on a 3 week holiday to India at the end of 2019. After 1 week, I just couldn't wait to return home. It was a terrible holiday. Kolkata, damn, filtiest place I've seen in my life. Not even in the poorest regions of South Africa, do people live like that. It was disgusting. I will never put foot in India again. "The MOTHERLAND", bullshit.

On the day of India's independence day, the Indian army decided to take those toy robotic Doggs and made part of that march display them to the Indian public. Hilarious.
