I don’t think this is to do with sheinbaum’s response to drug crackdown, it’s just those who support cartels that are actually causing the problems. It’s sickly appalling to think that this is the response to killing the most wanted person who’s brought misery to many. People should be celebrating yet here we have people being upset about it
@Hinata0928
Of course, Cartels gonna struggle to get as much territory as possible now that El Mencho was gone.
That's why they're on the roll recently.
@FernandoGomez-hg4rn
the homicide rate figure dropping down wasn't a result of actual homicide reduction but rather that they started to report "murders" as disappearances. So yeah murders were reduced while disappearances spiked. all a ruse to fool gullible people...
@revolution1237
The amount of violence in Mexico that has been occurring and taking place there since the death of El Mencho is simply unimaginable to someone who lives in a relatively stable country. Like, for real, I haven't seen this much violence in my lifetime, like, ever. I hope the people there are safe. I don't know what I would do in this situation if I were there.
@jurassictyrantkingYT
It's a good thing that US intelligence warned the Mexican Government that an attack was coming but still at least the Mexican military was ready for the attack and were preparing for it, it would have been a huge disaster if the Mexican military didn't see this coming, I have to say great job to the Mexican National Guard as well as the military maintaining control even though Mexico is still under Red alx lockdown and I want to thank the US government for warning the Mexican Government of the incoming attack.
Great job to the Mexican military and the Mexican National Guard for maintaining control you guys are heroes protecting the nation from the criminal cartels.
Honestly the cartels in my families homeland are literally the equivalent of the Taliban, what I'm worried about is the fact that now drones have been spotted in El Paso Aerospace and it could be an indication that the cartels are now considering using drones similar to the ones that Ukraine has and it would be problematic if they would use the same tactics as the ukrainians do using drones for the battlefield and that's what many citizens on both sides of the Border are concerned about drones being yet another tool for the cartels to kill people on both sides of the Border.
@NiskaMagnusson
being in the Mexican armed forces must be so messed up in situations like this... effectively living with the enemy and they can be more anonymous than you.
The cartels really are some of the worst humans on the planet, I hope that the US continue to support those actually willing and brave enough to fight them.
@holden5478
Maybe letting an illegal paramilitary groups expand and grow uncontested for decades is a bad decision. Maybe Mexico should have done something sooner.
@fernandocervantes7237
Those homicide rates are misleading as stats mix homicides and missings, the goverment is currently acussed of medling with the data to mislead the public and hang the goverment a medal
@tylerharry6319
Can we just stop all this nonsense and legalize drugs? At least then we could actually regulate them safely and treat people for addiction instead of jailing them. The war on drugs has failed.
@andrewmo49
The more I learn about how government really works, the more I realize that national government, mafia and cartels are really the same thing. They are all powerful people who enforce their power on those who are weaker and fight to gain and hold territory. The names change over time (monarchs, emperors, warlords) but I. The end they are all the same using the power of a military to enforce their will on the populace.
@thevictorianconservative1093
Yeah homicide rates went down. But over the same time, kidnappings and missing persons sky rocketed. Sheinbaum is in their pockets as is most of the govt. Mexico is a failed state.
@FortniteMaster435
I just want to clear up a misunderstanding about the US sending weapons to cartels. Yes a lot of the cartels weapons and ammunition come from the US but they are illegally bought and smuggled across the border not directly given or supported by the US government.
I also think both Mexico and the US would be in a better position if they focused more on controlling and monitoring what and who crosses the southern border. If they can tighten that up it would make it harder for weapons and ammo to get through and over time that could really weaken the cartels by cutting off their supply.
@DaRThVadAr314
And that is why Mexico really needed its official government to do something for once. The fact that they are doing this out in the open shows how far the corruption runs.
@soupwithfriends
if they think the kingpin removal strategy doesn't work then why do exactly that? practice what you preach
@navyreviewer
Hey, asking for a friend, where are the gangs getting the raw materials and equipment for the drugs?
I would like to think the government is doing this because it's the right thing to do, but realistically I suspect it was because the government doesn't like competition.
@nomadicroadrat
Mexican cartels are funded by US drug consumers.
Mexican cartels buy US military grade weapons with profits made from US drug consumers.
@FullmetalSP1
Perhaps the next thing you could explore the convenience of the flag on those two cranes lowering just in time to be positioned in the background of the shot that the photographer was quickly rushed into taking by a Trump aide? After that, explore why we know so little about the shooter, how Trump’s ear grew back, and the subsequent bump in the polls that he experienced after the “attempted assassination”?
@marcomvi4116
As an Italian this reminds me of the 80s and the mafia wars. I hope mexico can free themself from these monsters
@marianadch6909
Don't be fooled, your government and the CIA are allies of the cartels, they sell weapons to the drug traffickers in exchange for money and coca. This was achieved thanks to the operation led by SEDENA and thanks to the Mexican military who lost their lives to end the violence and impunity of these criminals and clarified this happened in spite of the United States. Mexico and our now patriotic heroes finished with the leader of the CJNG; always wanting to sell themselves as the heroes when the United States is the cancer of humanity.
@danz1182
Mexico is moving up as a nation. It should be on par economically with the richest large European countries by 2040. It is on the cusp of a point where cartels are simply not tolerable. Their days in Mexico are numbered.
@Ad-skip
The number of people giving what about-ism arguments or somehow defending the cartels is ridiculously stupid.
The head of a notorious, murderous, drugs cartel was killed. That is a good thing in every way.
@mdl2427
Nothing will happen as long as she thinks it goes against murderous criminals human rights to deal with them I guess.
@aliali-ce3yf
Don't the cartels provide basic services/support to local communities faster than the actual govt which is how they became so entrenched to begin with? Its disturbing what happens when the govt fails the people, the people look elsewhere. Maybe if the govt did their job, people wouldn't look to the cartels
@luiscera9690
If you don't fight the drug cartels, there's relative peace (pax narca), but certain criminal groups become empowered. If you do fight the drug cartels, there are reprisals and destabilization like what we're seeing. If you destroy a cartel, it will fragment, and others will emerge to fill the power vacuum. While Mexico sheds blood the US makes no effort to regulate weapons trafficking.
@colulegs95
Careful with government released figures that drastic like that 40% drop, because they are manipulative... the disappearance number skyrocketed when the government changed how the homicide rate was calculated to lead to that 40% frop
@Mito383
Removing the head doesn’t seem to be doing anything. I’m not just saying because of the retaliatory attacks. I’m saying it because multiple cartel leaders have been arrested or killed and the problem is still just as prent as it has always been.
Something needs to be done for sure but this strategy doesn’t seem to be woking.
@Dominus_vobiscum__7
The Mexican government can solve this issue overnight if it wanted to. It clearly needs a large army. Mexican officials should allow for up to 500,000,000 indian men into the country and recruit them into the army. There's no way a cartel could sustain against an army that large.
@palkl98
I would like to point out that some other Latin American nations have begun bringing in US troops for training and instruction. Peru, Ecuador and Paraguay. There are more, but the other one's I saw are either a little antagonistic to the US, or wouldn't benefit as much from a more militarized response to these cartels.
@dipertag
I wonder if the cartel will retaliate against Trump for his administration working so closely with the Mexican government and sharing his genius strategies and intelligence
@brendanwiley253
The capture and humiliation route worked in El Salvador but it looks like the immediate execution via automatic rifle option is the more fitting one in Mexico
@Faustomujica
I find this channel incredibly biased in favor of Sheinbaum, sure the homicide rates are reduced but there is a gaping data hole when it comes to disappearances that they keep pushing to the side, and remains unexplained. It’s so concerning to see independent media in Europe simply repeating the oficial government rhetoric with little to no scrutiny at all. No criticism, just a blind faith of a political figure they don’t seem to know in any deep way.
@SkeptiSquid
the economics of the area underpin and give rise to such organized crime. As long as the delta between profitability of legal industry/commerce and illegal drug trade is high, you will continue to see new gangs fill the gaps.
@DeathlyTired
The US is responsible for the cartels. It's supply and demand.
US has massive demand for, and the disposable income to incentivise a markeplace for, recreational and painkilling drugs. Yet the US treats it only as a supply side issue; blameings everyone else for filling the demand that the US has generated
Until the US is honest about the decay in its populatino that finds so many of their people desperate for any relief, including record numbers of drug use, then the problem will remain. Same as the last 50 years.
Much easier to inflate others failings and moralise about your perceived superiority, rather than turn the mirror on yourself and deal with your own original sin.
@youtuber1650
America complains about drugs being brought from Mexico into the country but the US exports heavy weapons into Mexico which is much much much worse.
@lvl9723
Listen I’m glad that they are talking about this topic but I’m kinda disappointed that they didn’t bring up all the killings that smaller cartels have been doing because of the cartel leaders death, it’s out of control and people are still dying because of the cartels
@ragadrop
as a Mexican I can tell you that you have one error, there were casualties on Mexico's army side. Also it is worth mentioning that there are no news about mass casualties during the retaliation. So, not bad, but not great either.
