The tourism portion is just another thing on top of many other things they didn't think of. We have basically a perfect storm of nonsense going on. We don't manufacture a lot the world needs, and what we do have is going to be bought less and less. What we do supply to places like China(soybeans for one), they can get elsewhere. The tariffs hurt the middle class and small business owners the most right now, and some of them also rely on tourism etc. When you think about all the moving parts to the world economy, it's amazing any of them walked away from this idea and still thought it was good enough to implement. There are so many side effects. They just don't care, and that should be obvious to everyone at this point.

Something very simple. US company produces goods that need import, the cost rise at least 10% for the US, but if they export it their price is also 10% higher because their imports where more expensive. They are less competitive on the global market and will lose sales. And i am not an economist, this is just logical thinking.

Canadians stopped going in Feb. and Canadian airlines have cancelled flights to the fascist USA and are focusing on Cdn. tourist destinations (of which there are many). The USA stands to lose billions in tourist ��. The �� doesn't care about the small businesses that border Canada like in Maine who rely on a large Canadian contingent to keep them going! One guy I saw with a family business Inn may go bankrupt from all the cancellations after close to 100 yrs. in business! Canadian families that have gone there for years are cancelling reservations made last year. Sad but true!

A perfect storm is brewing in the United States. Inflation, bank collapse, severe drought in the agricultural belt, recession, food shortages, diesel fuel and heating oil shortages, baby formula shortages, available automobile shortages and prices, the price of living place. Republican leaders are still obsessed with the idea of "American Exceptionalism". The concept basically comes from when the country set itself up great after World War 2 and the aftermath was bad for most major powers in Europe. So for a while America was one of only two major superpowers in the world. The US and the Soviet unx. When the Soviet unx disbanded it was seen as all the proof needed that America is not only great, but above everyone else. Almost like a divine indication showing that we were chosen. Everything we touched seemed to turn to gold and whole generations were raised on the idea that just because it's American makes it better and that's why we control everything. We also don't have the self awareness to see the rot developing and crumbling infrastructure that is signifying the end of an empire.
