Why does it remind me of the beginning of Frozen 1 so much??

@張小可-b8l
The purpose was to build a snow and ice park in Harbin, a city in northeastern China. Each year there's a different theme, and it's the world's largest snow and ice park. This has been in Harbin for at least 20 years, attracting many tourists every year.

@matheusmelisguerrapeixe2330
While the rest of the world uses heaters, China builds ice castles. What does that have to do with heat? Nothing.

@KratosAurionplays
The ice festival looks so cool

@it.is.what.it.is11
Born of cold and winter air and mountain rain combining

@crimpinurpimpin
That’s actually pretty dope. Amazed you can keep them solid during the summer with how hot it gets these days.

@anorakkairos
Before the invention of refrigeration. This is how we kept things cool throughout the world as there was a significant in ice mining and ice harvesting. Industry prior to refrigeration

@humanrightsadvocate
For those who don't understand... the development of the Harbin Ice and Snow World is a strategic economic initiative aimed at maximizing seasonal revenue in the Heilongjiang province. The project requires the large scale mobilization of labor to harvest ice from the Songhua River and construct temporary architectural installations. This industrial activity takes place during the winter period when primary sectors such as agriculture and outdoor construction are non operational due to environmental conditions. The labor force utilized for this project is primarily composed of seasonal workers who derive income from the construction and maintenance of the site.
The tourism generated by this festival is a primary driver of the local economy and supports ancillary sectors such as hospitality and logistics. The municipal government treats the annual construction as a recurring capital investment designed to maintain the status of the city as a global winter tourism destination. The focus on ice and snow related commerce is an attempt to create a specialized economic niche that utilizes the extreme climate as a resource. The allocation of human energy toward these temporary structures is justified within the local economic model by the high volume of capital inflow from domestic and international tourists. This model provides a predictable cycle of employmentand revenue generation that compensates for the limited industrial activity during the winter season.

Natalie, thank you for saying kind words of truth. One specifically helped me through tough thoughts and given me the courage to go through it through meditation and sitting with the discomfort knowing my light will dissolve it.

@Black_Dragon4222
This actually happens all over the world like in Canada the US and Europe, as well as Asia
Too clear up any confusion, I’m talking about ice festivals like the one mentioned in this video are held all around the world. One good example of this is The World ice art festival in Fairbanks Alaska.
Edit- Guys can we chill j was just pointing something out… it’s not that deep.
Edit 2- Never expected my most popular comment to be so controversial

@Glebiys
Catchy storytelling

@johnsu9251

@industrypools4063
Sounds like busy work.

@Hawky2947
Many towns in the world stored ice before electric refrigerating systems were a thing. They used it for food preservation, making drinks cold or rich people for comfort, during summer. There was whole industry for ice store and delivery.

@DiogenesTheCynicOfSinope
The ice must be as slippery as a snake, but solid as metal to hold together

@benvaun1330
This used to happen everywhere. Ice was a HUGE business.

@ManiacArmy-wp4sc
Thought that they save it and then sell it to the future scientist and make money

@runahallaert5712
"Born of cold and winter air," "This icy force, both foul and fair, has a frozen heart worth mining," and the catchy chorus, "Hup! Ho! Watch your step! Let it go!"

@Rek_Rc
I gotta admit, that's pretty cool

@misterdurden1628
I completely forgot that China specifically turns off all of their heaters once winter hits just so they can do this.

@7moname771
These people really never ever cease to amaze me..
Every time I see Asians come up, doing something with their hands..
They always take pride in it, they are
skilled,
hardworking,
polite,
and, diligent individuals
So many of us have grown comfortable, fat and lazy..
I like to see so many people around the world actively using their skills for the beauty, functionality and also because of necessity.. working with one's hands to do what is needed or just out of creativity and "coming together" and taking pride in one or a group's hard work

@jazzthegamerz2966

You know we used to do that 150 years ago

@TheRealFranklinDelanoRoosevelt
Fun fact, this region which is located in “黑龙江” which literally means “Black Dragon River” it was also ruled by the Russian empire during Imperial Chinas dynasties, the church you see there is actually a Russian Orthodox Church, not a Chinese one, so there’s slight Russian influence in this area and I’d highly recommend you to explore it.

@dalewilliams8001
Many years ago, harvesting ice was a big industry here in Michigan. For one, it was used in ice boxes (precursors to refrigerators) in warmer seasons.

@halrox247
I saw a video that explained that ice when piled and stacked like that creates an effect where it essentially self freezes. It’s how they were able to harvest ice from the north and bring it down to the south, even the Caribbean before the invention of freezers and refrigerators.

@vrutant_rupani107
