This question tells me you really just don't get it. You think, bless your heart, that the rest of the world sees Trump as the problem and when Trump goes away, the problem will go away and all will return to normal.

Trumpnis just a symptom of the problem. The problem America is at its core a fascist, racist, uneducated, violent nation. This goes all tge way back in US history to the era of the Pilgrims, who were bascially kicked out of Europe for ot.
All Trump did was remove the thin layer of respectability and let the fundamental character of the USA shine through.
Fix that and you will will be able to sit at the adult table once again with the nations of the world.
But it will take a couple of generations ti do so, and right now you are going in the wrong direction.

Trump v1 was an embarrassment to the US and a laughing stock to the rest of the world. The rest of the world was relieved when Trump was held to one term and replaced with a sane elder statesman like Biden. The rest of the world assumed that the American electorate learned its lesson and started to re-engage with the US.
Then the electorate put Trump in office a second time!
It seems they did not learn their lesson, or they did, and they liked it. Either way, the US has become a horrible hostile pariah state that the rest of the world would rather have nothing to do with.
Also, Trump learned a lot from his first term. 2nd time around he is doing a LOT more damage.
Once Trump is gone, it will take a LONG time for the US to regain its stature in the world, because the people wo RE-ELECTED Trump will still be out there, and the rest of the world will be worried about when the next Trump will come along :-(

Trump has actually done something positive
He has exposed to the world, the inherent weaknesses of his country.
Almost 80 million Americans voted for a thoroughly reprehensible man. A convicted felon and sexually deviant falsely religious conman.
This makes it obvious that there is a moral, ethical and educational vacuum in the USA, which isn’t going to change anytime soon.
He also exposed just how dangerous, false and hateful the politics are in the USA.
One person has FAR too much power to make radical and stupid decisions with very little in the way of checks and balances, or consequences.
He’s even committing serious crimes in office and literally bragging about it.
Everyone can see he is involved in insider trading with his party and the tariff debacle.
But of course, he’s now above the law.
A lot of these things were well known to many people, but now it’s obvious to everyone who cares to accept the facts.
He has exposed how radical many people are in his country.
Religious fanaticism is rampant.
His appointed ‘Evangelical advisor’ is a raving lunatic. Ever seen a speech by Paula White?
She’s mad as a box of frogs.
Thanks to Trump, we now know that this is nothing new in the USA.
Idiots are successfully convincing other idiots that smart people are all lying to them and conspiring against them with vaccines and space lasers.
This is stupidity at its worst level.
The rest of the world now knows that facts just don’t matter to a lot of Americans if they just refuse to believe in them!
Then they have that ridiculous Constitution from the 18th century, which bizarrely enough, is possibly the only thing stopping them going full blown fascism.
It’s all being exposed by the Trump regime as strange, dangerous and radical to the rest of the world.
After he leaves office, what he has exposed will never just go away or improve any time soon.
It may even get worse.
At least everyone knows the score.

We've seen that, in a surprisingly common set of circumstances, the USA can become a dictatorship overnight.
It's just a wonder that it hasn't happened before!
Can you imagine the public outcry and derision when, once Trump is gone, a new trade deal with the USA is announced?
Here in Britain, and many countries that were former staunch allies, the headlines would all be pointing out how utterly useless they are, given that they can be ignored or ripped up at the whim of just one man!
Even if, as seems increasingly unlikely, the USA is still a NATO member at that point, the massive amount of arms sales that America has benefitted from for decades will never be seen again - why would anyone trust a country that has withdrawn support from an ally that they swore to protect? even gifting their enemy with an intelligence benefit by withholding vital satellite coverage and information gathered elsewhere!
The rest of the world has now seen the grubby underbelly of the American political system, and I very much doubt that they, as a country, will ever be trusted again.
How very very sad.

No, it's gone - in the short term and the medium term, at least. Perhaps in some decades, perhaps a century, things will get better but the thing about reputations is they take years to build up but only seconds to break. If they think the world is going to sit there waiting for the big brave Americans to take their brain medicine and then forgive, forget, and move on they're in for a massive surprise.
There's an American expression I really enjoy: “Shit, or get off the pot.”
In other words, do your business or get out of the way because other people have business they're wanting to do as well.
The USA once held a position of respect and leadership on the world stage. It abdicated from that position, and nobody's going to keep the seat warm awaiting their illustrious return. They're just not important. This is all serious stuff and we don't have time to let the USA's midlife crisis put world affairs on hold.
What's happening is the great rebalancing - strengthening of existing international relationships, the first tentative steps made to forming entirely new ones, and softening of strained relationships between traditional enemies… and the Americans aren't invited.
If they ever do get their shit together and decide they want to re-engage like adults, they will be coming back to a political landscape that looks markedly different from today. They will have to adjust - quickly - to their new reality: One country among many, travelling in the passenger seat and needing to earn, from scratch, the respect and trust they formerly enjoyed.
This lesson in humility will not be easily learned by the Americans - but learn it they will, because they will really have no choice.

Why on earth would the spouse EVER trust their former partner again?

See, an enormous part of the USA’s “world standing” was your soft power. People wanted to move to your country, and develop there, including to develop ideas they couldn't in their home countries because of corruption and authoritarianism. You got the best minds of the world coming to work for you.

These minds are going to China now, if the Chinese are smart enough to capitalize the trend. In this scenario they won't need to get Taiwan or Sibera by force, they’ll get them through investments and money, meantime sucking Russia dry of its resources. If they are smart enough, all of Asia will line up to them. Asia, with its young population and technical boom. And see, the reason why they are the only empire of the ancient that still stands, is because they are smart.
