In Canada, we imported almost 10% of our population is the last five years, the majority of whom came from India. There's no doubt that Indian culture is not the same as Canadian culture, and importing such a massive number so quickly means we are far more likely to see those cultures bumping up against each other, rather than giving them a chance to assimilate and blend.
Like any good cook, I know if you try to add the eggs too quickly and in too much of a hurry, you get scrambled eggs in weak sauce, not a thick creamy custard. Same principle applies to immigration. We need to give people the time and chance to learn and absorb our culture and values, else we end up with ghettos and a weakened society.

I'll never understand leaving a country because you don't like it there, only to try to turn the new country into the one you left. Indian's aren't being brought in waves for no reason - and Canada's population birth rate is 1.3-1.4 per woman (1.6 is needed to sustain the population). Canada faces some...upcoming complex financial issues that have been building for about 50 years due to birthrates, how companies have invested in Canada (they basically haven't in most sectors) while combating growing global pressure in the form of global finance and even a changing climate. Even if Canada began mass importing people next real, there comes the very real problem of CPP: there are going to be more people, living for longer, drawing off this system. It's already likely that by the time people who are in their 30s now will not actually be able to draw much retirement for themselves because the burden of non-working people collecting retirement is sapping all the money they've paid into CPP.

Canada is in dire trouble, and this is a threat facing a lot of advanced economies right now. We stopped having kids.

Mexicans being in the U.S. makes sense historically. A lot of the Southwest used to be part of Spain and Mexico, so Spanish city names, streets, food, and culture were already here before the borders changed. That's why Mexican culture blends into the U.S. more naturally - same Western roots, similar religion, long shared history.
With India and Canada, it's different. There's no shared history or cultural foundation there, so when large numbers move in, they bring an entirely separate culture instead of blending into what already exists. That's why it feels more noticeable and disconnected.

The worst is most of them are truck drivers and have no experience driving on the snowy mountains highways it's so dangerous to drive next to them. Thanks for shining a light on this.
