If it’s snowing in Texas; does that mean that Ted Cruz is on vacation ????
@lowcarbsocial1248
Remote learning? that’s a bummer for those kids. I remember snow days were about sledding, cozy pjs, and drinking heaps of hot cocoa.

Tennessean here without power for 7 hours. Electric company said it will take days or even a week to restore power.

Good thing we got rid of FEMA! The south gets to use those bootstraps they keep telling everyone else about.

It always intrigues me how fast people drive on snowy and icy roads.
But I hope everyone stays safe and warm…..we are having a heat wave here in Australia

If your graphic is covering the bottom third of your picture, and your cameraman is shooting all the relevant imagery only in the bottom third of of his shot your network has bigger problems than the story your covering.

When there is snow in German cities I always see people on cross country skies. Its part of the fun :) Also winter does not mean instant blackouts, so you can enjoy it.
@RussellOsborne-mh6ck
Yeah we're looking at multiple inches and I've been falling on top of it for quite a while
@tinsu629
This same system gave us 60 cm (23.5 inches of snow) here in Toronto. With the snow drift, the snow was almost waist high. We spent 4 hours of shovelling the snow. There were 5 people including my neighbour helped clear the snow in our shared driveway. Stay safe everyone.
@NinaP-c5e
Since a storm 2005 we in Sweden have buried down the energi net. About 80 % is buried, some is still in air in rural arias. Prevent energi from ice, fallen trees and stormrelated injuries. Very effective. It costs, but so do shovel snow. All the best to you, start digging!

In Pittsburgh, it’s been coming down pretty heavy, but it’s nothing we can’t handle. We are prepared for snow storms here.

It is truly amazing to hear a politician give clear directions to people during an emergency. The norm for the current federal government is to CAUSE the emergency.
@TheCanuckCanadain
i love how humbling nature is, canada go thought this 4 and half months every year. america get it once and it's the end of the world.
yes somehow we are the weaker people compared to our southern neighbors. till texas can take more than 4 inches of snow. then you can diss canada a bit
@lulenmo
Not surprised to see these dumb 'global warming??? ' comments here since your dictator made a post like that a few days ago. Like jeez the concept of global climate ≠ local weather isn't even hard to understand. Look at an infographic if you don't like reading but for now you are just embarassing your nation even further
@luckyb4541
Whats the big deal? I grew up in Prince George BC this is just the season between nov and april . It's called winter, we got -40F every year. Plug in the car or it dont start. Wrap your pipes or they'll explode. Long johns and grey hunting socks. So of course i moved to mexico i dont wear socks anymore.
@Vixxen1111
Why are so many of them not in snow boots? You're telling me everyone went to the store to prep for a storm and didn't even consider boots? Okay.

So when it snows are you allowed out your house or not? if you look closely you can see the snow going up past the soles of peoples shoes lol

With the weak and crumbling power grid all over US , I’m actually surprised it isn’t more ppl affected and I would expect these outages to be more frequent in the com8ng years. Invest more , much more.

How do people live like this this is miserable weather and I'm in a warm house can't imagine the homeless and what they're going through it haven't been outside in days

Before, I was proud when I was looking at our team of Hydro Quebec going south when usa was without power , to help.
Today, I just hope they dont go south to help. I even feel bad thinking this way, but usa deserve no help at all from Canada.

Skiing is the appropriate method of transportation&fun when there is enough snow on the ground. Does not look that deep in that video, though.

South Ga here..very warm outside but have a tornado watch & rain otw & supposed to be freezing temps next couple days. Not expecting power outage but prepared in case. Last year we had several inches of snow on ground for several days for first time in many years. We loved it..the whole area shut down..not equipped to handle snow here.
@Andrew-e2n9e
Unfortunately, not all of us were financially savvy early on. I was 35 when I finally did my research and took the first steps. Two years later, I went from $176,000 in debt with no savings or retirement savings, to being completely debt-free and having over $100,000 in net worth. I know that doesn't sound like much, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Now I'm building my wealth rapidly (investing $400,000 annually) and I don't owe anyone a cent. It's a great feeling!

Remember Trump shut down and defunded agencies designed to address such emergencies...all to give Elon Musk a tax break! It's the traitor-administration!

A little bit of snow and ice and Americans lose their minds, this is hilarious!!
I've got 4 feet of snow on my roof and was out BBQ'in in minus 32 degree weather last night, without a jacket on, we Canadians love this sh!t.
@fuzzyhair321
what is concerning, its not snow. its rain then ice, inches thick. thats going to suck. hot air coming from the south giving energy to the cold air of the north giving it more power south. welcome to the normal

Have fun in Winter, it's not that hard. Be careful, bundle up in warm clothes, make sure your car is Winterized for sub-zero Temps. And be ready to help stranded motorists, help people shovel snow, check on people at risk. Normal winter life in Wisconsin

Here in Algerie it’s very foggy day , There’s not good visibility or people say low visibility, it’s downpour, pouring continuous rain all day long
I thing climate change the January all of time absolutely love it and good ground here , it’s longtime I don’t see that climate
@Beautifulbeyond-b4j
It’s barely anything, less than a half a foot in Texas. Must be the ice, that will be gone soon too when it gets warmer.Why does they have to “ stay inside”, tell them to stay off the roads instead maybe.
@Tabarnacification
Ngl, as someone living in the north, this is baby snow
@indigosky22
Obviously it's not that bad of a snow storm in NYC... otherwise people wouldn't be out strolling,
walking and skiing. This was not a blizzard or as bad as they said it would be!
@ccastyman22305
Btw, all the data they get for these forecasts is thanks to NOAA, especially the National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service, the National Weather Service, and the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research. NOAA saves lives. As well as NASA, the USGS, and the National Science Foundation which help scientists track Earth’s atmosphere, oceans, and lithosphere. America leads the world in science research, and it aught to stay that way.
@Loki-rascal
I do technical support for a residential battery based solar system. Unbelievable how many last-minute phone calls I got from dumb ass homeowners who have no idea how to use their equipment or how it works during a power outage and then they have a million questions 12 hours before the storm is supposed to hit. I'm like, dude you paid $25,000 for your system and you have no idea how to use it? Fricking idiots!
@JtacSwe
You are sooo dramatical over there. It's a bit of snow. There's still bare earth next to the roads ffs. Regards from Sweden (= normal winter, except we have power bc our power lines are underground... duh).
@rpp-7331
Wow, a local politician, staying put during a huge weather challenge, and taking care of business, doing live interviews...HMM, how curious!?! And in New York, no less?!?
@luciemann6637
A typical winter day in Canada! -20F, 8 to 10 inches of snow and blowing wind. Might want to tell that to your president before he send troops here to make us the "51st state" against our will: that's what your troops will be battling everyday, all winter long. We, on the other hand, are used to it and go on with our daily lives as this is normal winter conditions for us. And if you need help to get out of that, well, I wonder where you'll go for that?
@Sebastian-k5l2n
In Scotland UK this is would be like a normal winters period. The Scots are used to extreme temps. They ‘ sunbathe’ at -8c and will hit the beach even at -10c. Ice cream sales go through the roof too. They love it!!
@paulmiller657
I've been looking at all these media reports and it's like each one is trying their best to see who can produce the most sensational headline or make this storm out to be more than it is! It's almost like they're reporting that it isn't suppose to snow in the winter time! Yes there are going to be hazardous conditions but to explode an issue and then show people going about their usual business and not having any problems is spreading MISINFORMATION! and CNN should get an AWARD!

I am certain that those in the areas affected by the sudden and unexpectedly harsh winter storms feel a sense of immense gratitude to the Department of Government Efficiency for all that it achieved with the NOAA while taking comfort in the knowledge that the current administration (particularly Kristi Noem) are doing everything they can to fulfill Trump's desire to eliminate FEMA.
@ryu-tano9490
Thats what ukrainians have to. Difference is in america its just the normal weather that leaves them freezing without power while in ukraine its putin deliberate drone and missile attacks on the power grid specificslly with the goal to turn it off and let civilians suffer and die in the cold of winter.
@MythicStealth
Greenland and Canada are giggling. All I hope is that power is back for people. Snow is the least of America's problems.
@bernhardblauth5967
This seems very exaggerated to me the way the media deals with this. Power supply is obviously very weak if it collapses after a few inches of snow and ice. To sum it up, been there done that, stop whining and go on!

Intelligent people buy more than sufficient cold weather gear and the coldest weather rated sleeping bags they can find in summer when it's dirt cheap.
If you rely on electricity or gas to survive, you screwed up so stop doing that. Pretend you're camping in winter and you'll be merely inconvenienced.
If you own a home, install drain valves below the rest of your plumbing so you can quickly dump the system to avoid frozen pipes in a power loss.
That cost be about twenty bucks and also makes future plumbing repairs gloriously more convenient.
I also keep decapitated blue poly drums (great for clothing and other storage) handy so I can fill them for wash and toilet flushing. When I generate soapy water it goes int my toilet tank for flushing. All of this is easy for my old crippled self, so even if you're not a DIY monster make the effort to learn.
@danielking2944
I piled up firewood in the house and on the porch to last two weeks. Got my 68 kWh of battery topped off and emergency propane for cooking. We really dodged the bullet here in Paris Texas because when it got cold,it got very cold in a hurry. The very dry sleet and snow doesn’t stick to power lines and trees so the power didn’t go off. I was somewhat disappointed because I don’t get to gloat about my prepping.
Even the streets were easy to drive on because the surface is hard dry granular ice.
At least I can brag about very low electricity bill because the battery carries me for 16 hours even though the solar panels are covered. You can stop dissing the Texas grid because it didn’t stumble during this event. I still got the free electricity 8 pm- 6 am. Then put the inverter back in bypass at night to ride free on Monday.

Unless ur a cop, fire & rescue, health care you shouldn't be on the road
