Wash the rice, add enough water, and freeze it in the container overnight. The next day, cook it directly from frozen; this helps the rice split open much faster during cooking. It saves you time this way but I’m not saying without this trick it’s normal to spend 2 hours cooking congee. 30min is enough for sure.
