I find the constant assertion that one should try to find an agreement ridiculous, indeed a breach of all fundamental principles. Talking like this implies that one should give in when someone exerts unjustified pressure or claims something that does not belong to them. That is simply too soft. A line must be drawn, and talk of compromise is simply inviting and already far too soft in verbal terms. When will Europeans finally learn this? Stop talking like that.

It’s less that the EU is reluctant to use its economic might and more that it can’t. Such a decision would require consensus among its member states. That consensus does not exist bc there are a bunch of member state that do not view the issue as being within their national interests to solve, or at the very least they do not see it as being within their national interests to respond with something as sweeping as the Anti-Coercion Instrument. Germany for example would most likely lose their largest export market if the EU uses it against the US, and Poland would lose their military equipment if they did as well (which is an existential threat to Poland, since they need to fight off Russia). This is what happens when you have a confederation of 27 different member states each prioritizing their own national interests over the shared interests of the unx

Then there's about 2 trillions worth of bonds the EU holds in the US economy. Then there's IP protection. Then there's cutoff of all American companies from EU territory, including social media. Then there's a crapload of American military equipment, bases and 80.000 personnel on EU territory, good luck holding influence in the middle east and other regions without that. Then there's the EU soft power and its alliances with other countries around the World, like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and others.
If the US keeps acting tough and tyrannical like they're untouchable, they have absolutely not a clue how much damage can the EU do without firing a single shot, simply because their hubris is blinding them.

欧盟可以并且将以他们无法想象的方式制裁美国。首先，美国70%的胰岛素是在丹麦生产的，如果仅仅这一个环节被切断，看看那肥胖人口会怎样，再想想来自欧盟的其他药物。此外，欧盟在美国经济中持有约2万亿美元的债券，还有知识产权保护。再者，所有美国公司将被切断与欧盟领土的联系，包括社交媒体。然后还有大量的美国军事装备、基地和8万军人在欧盟领土上，没有这些，美国在中东和其他地区的影响力将难以维持。再加上欧盟的软实力及其与世界其他国家的联盟，比如加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰、日本、韩国等。如果美国继续表现得强硬和专制，仿佛它们是不可触碰的，那么他们完全不知道欧盟在不发一枪的情况下能造成多大的损害，因为他们的傲慢让他们失去了清晰的视野。
