The concept of military parades itself is inherently flawed. A serious, professional military doesn't need to show off its men and equipment to project strength. However, I do admit that parades have become a part of the military culture in former Soviet block and socialist countries but these bike stunts are beyond stupid. They have the same energy as dictatorships displaying martial arts, breaking stuff with head, fire stunts etc., in their military parades.

I disagree. It is a show of displine and unity. It's meant to reinforce confidence in the public and create positive impact. Parades were part of most traditional royal armies for this reason. It was ceremonial and each country had it's own unique traditions and practices.

Hi sir, For me Army Day parade is supposed to be a Power demonstrations and showcasing new weapons and technologies which they did and i loved it. But these stunt demonstrations i have been seeing these since i was a kid and it always felt a bit quirky and in my personal opinion a professional army should refrain from these stunts.

I don't get the problem with these. It's a tradition of our army. Next someone will say that making camels do marchpast is animal cruelty and shouldn't be done. I sometimes feel that most of the opposition to this comes from the same 'gora validation' problem, i.e., don't do this because goras on social media mock us for it.

Well by that logic soldier marchpasts should be stopped as well as they are a relic of the past when marching discipline was an essential requirement of military action. If you haven't, go and watch the 'military parade' that the US Army did for Trump's birthday. Now no one can question the competency and professionalism of the US Army, but that parade was the saddest thing I've ever seen.

I've been watching these parades for as long as I can remember, and I've watched parades of other countries like Russia and China. It's about spectacle, tradition and civil-military relations. These things are intrinsically unique to each country and society, and these 'stunts' are our quirk, nothing more, nothing less.

There's no need to change it just because it looks 'cringe' to a section of the population. I'm sure that if it starts to interfere with any actual military requirement, it'll be dropped without the need of any input from citizens.

Bro see it’s just my personal opinion Indian army could just refrain from this these kind of demonstrations and just stick to the Weapons and technology demonstrations which they did beautifully specially the Pinaka rocket system and Akash missile rolling down the street and Camels are and always been an Asset for the Army and BSF specially in Republic day parade once i saw a camel march of BSF with Mortar system mounted on them, such a beauty!

All armies have adventure cells and one should assume this act comes from that quadrant. the soldiers doing these stunts out int their time in these 'departments' or 'cells' and then go back to active duty. they don't spend 15 years of their life doing stuff like this.

These parades are for general public. especially young kids. also the personnel themselves like doing it anyways. Think of it as a festival or celebration. It's a very family friendly event. You can see for yourself if you go. Kids love them.

On TV it looks cringe but in person it looks cool as hell. One time the army corp came to my university and performed stunts like this even jumps and fire rings all that and it was sureal. It is like an activity you can opt for in army if you want. Army doesn't force it on our soldiers.

电视上看起来挺尴尬的，但现场亲眼见到简直酷毙了。有一次陆军部队来我们学校，表演了各种特技，连跳跃穿越火圈什么的都有，那种场面简直超现实。这其实是军队里你可以自愿选择的项目，不会强迫士兵参与。

Maybe the problem is not the stunts but the fact that we're still simping for white attention. Stop taking random white guys' (and girls') comments seriously.
