I like this video a lot, I don't enjoy the situation but it feels like USA and Japan has similar issues that we'd just never noticed. Over here we have a severe issue with student loans and college is a pipeline to eternal debt because it's treated as a debt that can't even be removed if you file for bankruptcy. We also have an issue with single mothers, but I can't even say if it's the same...but because of how humans work there will always be the person who prioritize pleasure and neglects responsibility sadly. I know while this video was about women, would you consider doing a follow-up about the men side? I didn't think the situation would ever be used to create scammers and if feels like higher learning other than for something super specific is a nationwide scam, because you'll end up doing unsavory things to keep your head above water.

@NeostormXLMAX
Usa caused most of the current issues of japan lMao, look up the plaza accord and us dumping strategies targeting japan in the 80s

@Labyrinth6000
@NeostormXLMAX duh, America didn’t want to see Japan surpass them, that’s why their bubble burst in the 90s

@blakemckee295
Here in the US I turned 18 and went into a skilled trade, you can make middle-middle high income doing construction here. Sometimes more than college graduates. The pipe dream has been sold for so long decades upon decades that you have to go to college you have to go to college you have to go to college and now there's a huge demand for people in construction and skilled trades that you can make a great living by avoiding college.

@foogod4237
This is a very interesting video, thank you for covering this subject.
However, I think you may be using the word "scholarship" wrong in some places. Scholarships are when a business or charitable organization gives money to a student for use in their education, because of their past performance or because they meet some particular criteria. Scholarship money does not need to be repaid, so it is not a debt.
The debts you are referring to are typically referred to as "student loans", which are different from "scholarships" (gifts).

I have always liked a lot about japanese culture to the point i am once again trying to learn the language but, I know no country is perfect its good there is videos like this one exposing the flaws in a down to earth way. i'll be checking your content much more from now on you earned a sub

@armartin0003
Bravo Meshida. Stand up for the young women of Japan. They deserve to have the luxury of marrying for love without fear, as all people do. If Japan truly wants to solve its population problem, this needs to be addressed. Because having sex without commitment makes it near impossible to have strong stable bonds with others romantically. Without a deep bond and passion, you can't trust a spouse and you don't want children.

@cbradley857
If they are both working day and night. They are just too tired to have kids. That is a reality for many Japanese couples. Money is the number one cause for all divorces around the globe.

@zechariahp8206
I could solve their population problem if they're ok with some half gaijin children.

@octane7047
@zechariahp8206 If gov can pay for all child expense and for the labour people have to put in raising the child, people will have kids. If gov don't pay, then there will be no solution.

@restlessfae2407
@zechariahp8206 That isn't going to solve the problem. There are already mixed kids in japan and the fathers leave the country. And leave the Japanese women they are involved with as single mothers. So that won't help because a lot of foreign men are no better.

@douglasharveyii
Sad to see still many places won't hire these young ladies out of college for fear they will leave once they start families. Just today I saw at least three companies in Japan- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toyota, and Panasonic, are actively searching out women from universities, and are offering scholarships to those in the 'STEM' fields to work for them. They will offer much more than most women can get today in terms of money, at the very least. We can only hope this is a start to a better life for the ladies of your great nation.

@GurraDesu
I agree with your point about the work law reforms. It really does feel like the politicians wanted to impoverish women particularly to create a flood in the sex work field so there would be younger and cheaper prostitutes.
The more I learn about the non-tourist version of Japan the less I want to move there for work.

@StarboyXL9
While I'm all for cheaper prostitutes the reality is those are women who should be raising happy families for Japan's future. So I have to agree.

@JundArbiter
@StarboyXL9 Japan isn't really known for birthing children at the moment. And I think that the rate is still going down so it's not just that the birth numbers are lower than the deaths, it's like increasing in that direction.

@Suicide_Kid
For one it’s a cash society meaning nobody really knows how much anyone is making unless the person paying wants to report their payment to the government for a 100% tax deduction on the money spent. If you run a small business selling directly to consumers you’re completely off the grid, so if you work part time and make fuck all money on paper you can’t really force them to pay. It’s also the general way relationships work in Japan, maybe more so than other countries where a girl will have a kid with an attractive person and then find a less attractive person to pay for it. Infidelity among females in Japan is also really high. Why would you pay someone that’s fucking a bunch of other dudes when they’re probably just gonna spend it on getting their nails done. A lot of kids struggle as a child but it toughens them up. I grew up in Japan in an abusive household and tried to kms a couple times, but once you get past that you learn to live for others instead of for yourself and you realize the beauty of the system, and it’s probably one of the reasons theres no PC culture. It might seem weird but it’s a win-win for everyone imo.

@esploratoredelvuoto9204
The solution I think is simply to leave Tokyo and live somewhere a little more rural, since Tokyo is expensive and overpopulated, and it's also difficult to find work, Japan is full of places where they even give you a free house if you go to live there since many places are remaining empty, but the problem is that everyone wants to live in Tokyo, I heard that the Japanese government had even promised to give money to anyone who decided to leave the capital

@pe1eterek
That's so weird. Seems like countries that before were considered third world (eg. Poland, Czech Republic - overall Central and Eastern Europe) seems much better now, then even such developed countries like Japan. I didn't hear such things happening there, and education is free even at University level (of course because of this there are a lot of people wanting to study - so there is certain tests and exams before entering or after high school).

@user-et7rh2pm5n
My Japanese friend told me one of the reasons single mums are often poor is because a proportionally low number of them claim the state benefits they are actually entitled to! She said there is such a stigma that they are a burden to society financially that they would feel ashamed to accept that money. So with no state welfare and often zero child support they struggle to live off low wages for part time employment.

"If this were France, there would be riots." Unfortunately, being Asian myself, I understand the culture of enduring the hardship, not complaining, not rocking the boat, and minding one's own business. There needs to be change in Japan and other modern Asian countries but the culture prevents people from talking about the problems.

@eschelar
Same thing happening everywhere.
Parents keep their money for their house and retirement. Don't invest in their children. Then when they get so old that they need a nursing home, they do that on their own money.
They don't rely on their children for that, like happened before. Unfortunately, part of that is because before, it was more common for women to stay home as caretakers of the children, then caretakers of the parents.
Instead, we now have a problem where young people have no financial support early on when it is needed and useful. No money for uni. So they don't go to uni or they go much later. This creates a very difficult employment scenario as their experience is less than others in their field. This means that their salary is much lower. Also, it takes a lot longer to gather funds for uni.
This happened to me and I finished uni at age 28. No debt, true, but low earning too.
It's funny because the law of supply and demand says that if you increase supply, the value decreases.
Turns out that the decrease of wages coincides with feminism and women flooding the employment market. Especially instead of getting married and becoming housewives...
Ooooops. Feminism got it wrong? What?
And the stakes will cost society... The entire middle class and dichotomizing to a two-class, caste system?
Wow, who would have thunk it?

@lilanisi
I understand the balance of population in Japan, with the higher elderly population more funding will be geared towards their needs but more importantly their voice. There is a reason why prostitution is the oldest industry, it will always be a fallback for women with no other alternative. I don't think many women would ever chose that line of work, so sad but that doesn't change reality.

@feral_shade
It sounds scary if you think about the repercussions...
1st, it explains why sexism is such a huge problem, and why it will get much worse
2nd, Currently Japan has an impressive reputation for being safe
...but history invariably shows that desperation breeds crime.
3rd, with so many young underemployed people....when they're old enough to qualify for social security...the government won't be able to afford to pay it.

@iamotaru
Japan and Korea are similar in this sense.
Elder people get power and politics, write laws that only benefit them or their inner circle.
Society tends to see age as wisdom but fail to notice this time and age, some people grow old physically but did not grow wise mentally (grow up)
May need a huge country wide level of shift in politics.
But then again, Rich people funds politics, so its just who is steering the wheel

@andyst4750
I'm not a Japanese, but it still pains me just the same to see so many Japan people slaving away in our so-called modern times. Forced sex jobs are as atrocious as torture during wartimes.

@blackbelt2000
Speaking of forced sex jobs, atrocities, and wartimes....you should take a look at jpan's WW2 warcrimes. Perhaps jpn brought this upon themselves as punishment...deservedly so.

@genesishep
What a nonsensical suggestion. What you are insinuating amounts to the idea of karma. If so, I ask how would such a thing be satisfied by punishing a generation which had nothing to do with those crimes? If such a force of justice existed wouldn't it demand retribution upon those actually responsible for those acts? Unless you believe that karma can and should be passed down generationally. If so, I ask how such forces of justice can exist for the Japanese yet remain dormant for numerous cultures around the globe responsible for unleashing far greater suffering upon the world? For instance, how could the Caucasian civilizations of the western world escape said karma when they inflicted so much injustice upon the world? From the mass GENOCIDEs and enslavements of numerous cultures in the past to the constant war mongering that continues even today. Why karma for one and not the other?

@user-qm7jw
A famous influencer who used to work in the Japanese sex industry for over 10 years said on social media, "I have never seen a single woman forced to work in a brothel because of poverty." And when she questioned women who were doing パパ活 on her social media, she found out not a single woman started papakatsu because of poverty. I'm not saying, of course, that there aren't women who suffer from poverty and would sell their bodies, but the reality is that there are probably quite a few. I think it's quite misleading to say that many of the women selling their bodies are suffering from poverty and are forced to work.
