Maglev’s are gimmicks, I really beleive they are unnecessary. Maybe they can go a little faster than Shinkansen style trains, but the extra cost to build them is not worth it. China is doing this for PR, like the BBQ in space, trying to show off. They also have a Maglev in Shanghai but it definitely is unnecessary and often loses money, its just a tourist attraction atp
