Traditionally Chinese are used to be modest as a matter of courtesy whether towards foreigners or among ourselves. We humbly put ourselves at a lower rank to “look upon” others rather than looking down at others, whether the other really deserves respect. This friendly and self-disciplinary gesture was misunderstood as timid and coward, maybe because of shameful defeats in late Qing Dynasty. (But strangely enough, Japanese habitual bowing and their defeat in WWII do not have the same effect on Westerners�� Strange double standard!)
So over time, quite a lot of Chinese believe they need to straighten up attitudes and reactions towards foreigners from being polite excessively.

By the way talking about exceptionalism once I was at the Immigration Bureau, and an American lady had over-stayed and when they told her she had to pay a fine LOL she started screaming BUT I AM AMERICAN !!!! the immigration staff started looking at each other in amazement histw politely explaining the requirements of law. .... I was shocked to see someone screaming I am American like if the immigration staff was obliged to make an exception --- For the American lady what she was doing was absolutely normal LOL

Interestingly, I was in the Immigration department on Monday of last week and saw a man doing the same thing - he has a 2-year-old son, born in China and wanted to get permanent residency for the boy, but they said you don't need it, he's a Chinese citizen until he's 18 and can then choose which nationality to adopt. He was very angry shouting that his son is an American, and even had the temerity to ask them why they couldn't speak English, he was using my wife to translate but they do speak English and they asked my wife to stop translating for him, told him very calmly to come back with his own translator. They were very calm, very cool and very disciplined while he was acting like a 4-year-old child

In Australia I don't think "pro-China" is quite the right phrase. Certainly not in the editorialising of the (US owned) News Limited press, the pro-capitalist corporate media, or the "think tanks" funded by US corporations. In spite (or maybe because) of this effort, the US is definitely making China look good right now.

I just unsubscribed from Asmongold after seeing his "China is infiltrating YT" video (his HK video was bad enough, particularly since I actually lived in HK at intervals during the 1950s through the early 1970s), and from Glenn Greenwald after he praised Marco Rubio. Now Piston Pundit seems to have done a 180° turn (possibly for the better).

I watched Asmongold for years because despite fundamental differences in our perspectives (he's a self-described recluse who rarely leaves his room and has never traveled outside the US), he notices things that others miss, and isn't afraid to challenge Google and YT for the right reasons. He loved Black Myth Wukong and East Asian games generally, defended the Black Myth devs against Western media slander and misquotes, and garnered many more views for Asian Boss' "What Chinese Think of the US" video than this initially received. I also unsubscribed from Asian Boss because of their very persistent Western neoliberal mindset; they compulsively trash Singaporeans and Japanese for being successful, while endlessly glorifying and making excuses for poor South Asians.

I did the same for years. He's very bright (unlike Joe Rogan) but also incredibly naive about the real world. To repeat, I actually lived in HK at intervals during colonial rule, and also lived in Japan, Singapore (when they were also a colony), Taiwan, and MANY different European nations. I'm also much older (77!) than Asmongold.

The world hasn’t ‘turned’ pro China, it’s just that the world is waking up and seeing how China is, the advancement in engineering and tech for sure, but people are seeing how the government actually cares about it’s citizens. Advances in moving people out of poverty, clean air and climate change, proper education and health programmes….the list goes on. The thanks go to you Jerry and people like you that show how it is, and the banning of tik Tok led to more revelations, a video paints a thousand words. The other thing that has happened is the way western governments have turned a blind eye and been complicit in suffering in the world, and finally to see an unelected person take over the US. China is not looking for war, even now with Russia about to open trade deals with US, China is happy for that and is not threatened by it. I look forward to you videos each week, thanks Jerry.
