The rest of the world namely BRICS+ members, SCO, BRI participants, Africans, South Americans, East and South East Asians, Arabs etc are all learning how to colloborate with the PRC (China) instead of direct competition as their Leaders fully understand what business and trade really means in essence and how competition works. Countries which colloborate between their domestic industries, businesses etc with China ends up developing their own country at an explosive rate (win win philosophy) besides being able to expand and enter China's consumer market for other products which China does not manufacture or produces. The world is big enough for everyone to grow together in Prosperity.

For 40 years, I worked as a senior design engineer for large and most advanced HiTech companies in the US.  A large number of my colleagues were Chinese. I had the highest respect for them because they were very capable and innovative.  IMO, since there are more Chinese stem engineers in China than are Chinese engineers in the rest of G7, it is inevitable that China will be more advanced than the G7 in the near future.

I read somewhere, to make a magnetic part of a 15mw wind turbine motor, about 3 tons of neodymium is needed.  Neodymium is heavy rare earth and is mined almost exclusively in Eastern China.

The US is a financialized economy, which means that it is way easier to invest in financial paper than start anything of real value. Decades of doing this has distorted the economy so badly that it is very difficult for the USA to start any industrial production, even with government subsidies.

Agreed; China is winning on every front in terms of economic, manufacturing and technological power.  Obviously, they are still behind in the leading edge of semi-conductor.  But it won’t be long before they’ll catch up and take the lead.  Simply put: there is no stopping China’s advancements.  
Their government is disciplined.  Their leader is a visionary.  Their society is harmonious.  Their people are united.  Their leaders let their action and accomplishments speak for themselves; no bs and no hot air.  
They are in it to win but not just for themselves…everybody wins.

China is not perfect and it has its faults but in general they have a government that is trying to benefit its people.  Rather than canceling projects, is it not better to buy from those who can provide what you need.
When China needs equipment and materials they are not too proud to buy from the US.

I find it staggering that governments that are so keen to show their green credentials, to remove risk from all of our lives, are surprised by the obvious consequences of allowing others to do those jobs that we no longer find palatable.
Being able to heat and feed ourselves, is an absolute minimum that a government should do for those that it governs. Its staggering that we elect folks that are so stupid.

The world should be working together to produce good economically because there is a economy of scale which costs the goods to be produced cheaply.Plus there wont' be any wastage in turn of labour,energy,creativity,resources ,etc.
Instead now the West and US had so divided the world that each country is wasting resources manufacturing the same things or goods.

How do I believe all this? Just back  in 2014 China was just contract manufacturer highly centred into  improving the processes creating efficiencies with huge labour cost advantage and tax breaks with humongous subsidies. But within 10 years they are 15 years ahead of all the innovation that has happened in the world for the last 200-300 years.. This drives me crazy really!!

Only the project was designed by GE Wind and the Haliade-X turbines were manufactured in France.  Now the alternative is from cuckoo clock land (Siemens).  Western technology is so overrated, like their $25k handbags.

I lived in a US city where Vestas opened a factory to build the tower sections. While it was a modern facility that paid better wages than most employers in the area,(that's easily done), they intentionally located just outside the city limits to avoid those taxes and made sure that unlike their facilities in Denmark the unxs were kept out.

listening to kevin can be the highpoint of my day, often.
usa was spinning up , maybe a year before pearl harbor, but after, they were the wonder of the world.  that was then, now is different.
i suspect a nation run by rich people tends to do little. the poor don't get enough money to eat well or plan for the future, the rich too busy with golf.
the news from China tends to be uplifting, in stark contrast.  they seem to have a good mix of energy, smarts and national concern.
i'd rather have democracy, but that is clearly too hard for us.  looks like 2nd best is mandarin rule. lightly disguised by the word 'communist.'

The combination of wind turbines and low cost batteries are the solution to a lot of energy problems! In Sweden the problems are of a different kind. They want to build wind farms at the sea but that will disturb the view for rich people having homes on the shore and they lobby the politicians to stop the projects. Also the military has vetoed a lot of projects offshore for national security issues.
