Standard procedure even in the UK when landing somewhere you can't control who has access.
RAF and Royal Navy helicopters often have to make emergency landings in random parts of the UK (you know how helicopters are) and the crew have to stay with the aircraft until either a maintenance team arrive or a dedicated protection force, such as military police or RAF regiment.
It's fairly standard, unless the site is guaranteed to be secure and have controlled access.
Its probably more important with an F-35 too, due to the nature of it being the "latest and greatest", carrying kit and software information which is highly valuable to certain nations who don't have access.

You might have a bad security in airports in UK. In India, the security is top notch. No one can even get into the airport building leave alone defacing an aircraft. Getting into hangar or aircraft parking space itself is next to impossible.

你们英国的机场安保可能确实不怎么样。而在印度，安保等级是一流的。别说破坏一架飞机了，就连进机场航站楼都不是谁都能做到的，想进入机库或者停机坪几乎是不可能的事情。

It’s an airport, nobody is coming close to that thing and sticking stuff inside… besides, these aircraft are always displayed in air shows where people are taking pictures really close.

I live amongst many from South Asia (generally nice people) and it's common to come very close, take photos and stare/touch things that are not their property such as nice cars, motorcycles, equipment etc... and yes, would even occur at an airport.

India has provided 24*7, 360° protection to that aircraft. Only the crew and staff from r.a.f are anywhere near the aircraft.

Surely this is just standard procedure with any military aircraft? I would do that with my car if it was in a garage's parking space. It's a Jaaag....
In any case, the US would not want a potential customer to gather intelligence and find out whether the plane has a "kill switch". Thinking of it, I hope the problem is not due to the pilot accidently activiting the kill switch.

My son is a TOPGUN instructor and was on his way back from a dept at Key West in a Super Hornet last week when they had a technical issue and had to divert to Albuquerque. When all was said and done they were up for 26 straight hours before getting back to Fallon.

Even if it is SOP it's totally understandable why the pilot wouldn't want to leave a higly classified NATO asset unattended considering India, politically, always tried to keep one foot in both camps, currying favors with both the US and Russia kinda like Turkey.

Unlike Turkey, India doesn't like currying favours. Being a democracy, aligning with the US makes logical sense. But given American history of being an unpredictable partner when it comes to sovereignty and regional security, it won't make sense to hedge all your reliance on the US. We're seeing it with Ukraine, we're seeing it with Japan and South Korea. Europe is waking up to it.
Russia, on the other hand, despite being autocratic has always had a consistent foreign policy for it's partners.
So we have an unreliable democracy against a reliable autocracy. What a choice to have.

But when you follow your interests and make pacts with military dictatorship or autocracies, it’s fine.
When we do it,it’s unacceptable.
Hence the saying, English is second language, Hypocrisy is the first language.
We don’t have border issues with Russia,they stood by us in majority of conflicts,provided Veto Support, their relationship with China is not very comfortable, they are in a war but still managed to send MANPADS before OP Sindoor,so why should we turn a trusted friend into and enemy for Uncle Sam? @PS-te7qc 15 to 20 years? We are 4th power in terms of millitary and economy. And just behind germany some millions, next year we will 3rd position in terms of economy. The between 2 and 1st is big for that we need 20,30 years but for third it's a matter of year. We are 4.5T economy, germany is 4.7T economy very less gap . China is 18T and US is 30T for that we need time , in 15 years we will 15T

if the pilot and RAF had so much trust issues, they shoulf have landed at sea and let the jet sink. what kinda attitude is this? a country helps you in emergency, you comply till you land safely and once your life and jet are on land safe , you start showing attitude to the host? RAF is worried about jet in india while some random dudes go and spray their planes on their airbases

what the heck was he doing there in the first place. india is like turkey. they play their own games with everyone and are the consumate middle men. they are highly resourceful in making money anyway they can. they also are trying to dev their own fighter jets. would be a real coup to take apart an f35. again what's the brit doing there?

Off the carrier in the Indian Ocean, the CSG has been doing exercises with the Indian Air Force. Severe weather preventing landing, which is interesting in itself, I don't know how bad it was, but led to a Low fuel diversion followed by a hydraulic fault. It does seem that India isn't trying to take advantage of the situation and actively trying to be helpful (offered to tow it into a hanger or set up a tent over it) all in all I think they're viewing it as an oppoutunity to build relations, which is what the exercise was meant to do rather than steal anything.

这架飞机是从印度洋上的航母上起飞的，航母打击群当时正与印度空军进行联合演习。因为天气恶劣无法着陆（这本身就挺有意思的，不知道到底有多严重），导致不得不因燃油不足而改降，随后又发生了液压故障。看起来印度并没有趁机占便宜，反而是积极提供帮助（提出要把战机拖进机库或者搭建帐篷遮盖）。总体来看，印度把这次事件当作一次改善关系的机会，而不是想要偷取什么。这本来也正是这次军演的初衷。

It’s as the saying goes, English is the second language, hypocrisy is the first language.
Worsening relations with Russia? A long time partner that has no border issues with India, has an uncomfortable relationship with China. Sever ties with them so that they join the China camp and form partnerships with Pakistan? We should do that for Uncle Sam right?
Next time pilots can land in China or Afghanistan or China controlled Sri Lanka and ask for help, that would be so much better.

A Captain on the RAF? Unless they forgot the word Group then the reporter has no idea of the rank structure and India being a former British colony will likely have the same rank structure as the RAF.

英国皇家空军里会有“上尉”这种军衔？除非记者漏写了“中队长”，否则他根本就不了解英国军队的军衔体系。印度是英国的前殖民地，军衔体系很可能跟英国皇家空军是一样的。

Actually, that fighter craft entered Indian space to spy. And the so called stealth and powerfull and top class of the world fighter jet was intercepted, jammed and brought down softly by the Indian forces. Neither uk now usa understood what happened. They had no where to go when they figured it out. And uk usa cannot mention it in order to prevent downmarketting of their product. So it sits there confused...

Btw it’s completely understandable to not let other country’s tech team near your fifth gen, cargo it off if you want to.
Like I said, we would’ve confiscated and started reverse engineering it if we wanted to and UK can’t do anything about it, just like they can’t do anything about illegal immigrants.

The rust issue is that when IAF offered a hanger for this jet to park there, RAF refused, why ?? They said they will keep an eye on this jet every second from nearby building. So why their pilot left, no one from RAF is near jet but let Indian soldier to guard it every second even in thunderstorm. Why RAF ?

He signed for the plane, he’s responsible. I’ve had the reverse situation, a ground supervisor at an airshow (USAF base) told me I couldn’t do something with our plane, later when my PIC heard, “Screw him. I signed for it, I’m responsible for it, I’ll do what I want with it.” Funny story.
