They may have the weapons to cause a tragedy, but they've been over extended for decades and going bankrupt, so unless they do something right now before the currency completely collapses it wont be long before they can no longer afford to exert any military pressure anymore.
The funny thing is the same over expansion of the military, the debasement of the currency, and the loss of reserve currency status keep happening to every major power in history and they just keep making the same mistakes. So the real question is how long will it take for the power or powers that take over once the US collapses into irrelevance to also follow the same path.

Africa prefers Chinese investment over American aid, because instead of giving money that isto buy weapons, China provides materials and construction expertise.
It’s part of the reason why China is so dominant in rare earths, and other raw materials needed for manufacturing and also part of the reason why it’s still so cheap to manufacture in China despite rising wages. Their supply chains and manufacturing infrastructure are obscenely efficient.

This is why they currently control so many of the world’s important resource inputs for manufacturing. China is more popular in Africa than any western country right now.
