One reason Chinese cars are so much cheaper is because their CEOs’ salaries (and the rest of their C-suite) are a fraction of the salaries of US CEOs. BYD is now the #1 EV maker in the world. BYD’s CEO’s total salary? Less than $1 million/yr.
The salaries of the CEOs of GM and Ford are each $30 million/ year. Tesla’s Elon Musk gets paid literally $billions/ yr.
So if you’re wondering why your new Ford SUV, GM truck etc costs so much, it’s because you are financing the lifestyles of their senior executives.
