You’ve probably thought about it before — having your own excavator!
Well, I sure did earlier this summer while browsing Alibaba.com. I found a lot of to- good- to- be - true- offers. Before long, I had sent out several inquiries to manufacturers in China — and just minutes later, the order was placed. It was not nearly as cheap as advertised, but for about 12 000 dollars, I now own my own mini excavator, with a lot of attachments.

About five weeks after order, I received photos of my Vote VTW 1.2t mini excavator, built completely to my own specifications:

I also ordered a bunch of attachments — different digging and grading buckets, pallet forks, a hydraulic auger, and more.
After about 2.5 months in total, the Vote VTW 1.2t finally arrived at my address here in Norway.

i am someone who orders a lot of machinery from China. most people hate on things like that but if you want dirt cheap prices, prepare for dirt cheap priced manufacturing. i look for things that are somewhere in the middle - a good compromise of price and performance. and i have never regretted anything i purchased

I have thousands of hours on my first excavator, a Kubota U45, and then a couple thousand more on a Hitachi 35U. I still swear that operating an excavator is the most fun you can have with  your clothes on. I used them solely for personal use and to help out neighbors on occasion. Buy an excavator and be a happy person��. By the way, I loved your video. Great work.

For small jobs around the farm, this machine is value for your money especially considering that it comes with a lot of tools like the augre, 1m bucket/front end loader & back hoe. You could level out roads with gravel but most importantly for me, it can be used to dig small water reservoirs & trenches.

I used to work in construction as a grading inspector.  I asked the backhoe operator (it's another word for excavator) how he got started.  He said he showed up at a construction site and asked for a job.  The foreman asked if he could run a backhoe.  He said "Sure".  He had never operated one before.  After 5 minutes he was fired and run off the site.  He went to another site and told the foreman he was a backhoe operator..  This time he ran it for 15 minutes before he was run off the site.  He went to a third and then a fourth, each time lasting a little longer before he got fired.  Finally at the 5th site we was able to work all day.  And that is how he became an excavator operator.

Think of the potholes as a bowl and the gravel used to fill them in as cereal.  If you pour milk in too fast the cereal will be forced out of the bowl.  Someday, when the potholes are exposed again, break them up with the small bucket from the outside in, smooth it out and then fill the depression in with fresh gravel and they won’t reappear.

My parents had a kabota tractor for a small farm, with front forks attachment. It had a hard life of cultivating heavy clay soil, clearing barns of manure but after 35 years it out lasted my mother and was given away to a local farmer.   Absolutely reliable, the only repair was re-welding a front fork bucket mount when it got ripped off.
Careful, don't let it run out fuel as you will get air in the diesel lines and high pressure pump and it can be a pain to bleed the air out.

Looks like a good investment.   I've seen advertisements for this type of machine and have been very skeptical because they are all "mail order" and from China.  Glad to see that this vendor is honest.   I wish I had seen you dig a hole with the claw....that is the function I would need most.

One guy said that you should start one , dont do anything for 1h , swich off change oil , start again do some work for an hour then change oil again. This should extend the life of the engine greatly. Make sanse to me

A couple of weeks ago YouTube came up with a video from a US tree surgeon/wood mill owner and he stated he purchased ALL his equipment directly from China.  Not only because it was cheaper than buying from US companies - and it was apparently, even with shipping added in - but because the quality was so much better.  As in the item would last for at least a decade [he was in his late 50s I say, he was slowly changing all his equipment, as it wore out, for Chinese made equipment imported directly from China due to both better price and better quality.

My wife bought some costume jewelry from China. The jewelry looked beautiful. The fantastic part was the small wooden box each piece came in it was worth much more than the jewelry and looked superbly crafted.  If I was in the USA I would have bought the jewelry just for the boxes to sell to high value jewelry craftsman. I was very surprised to see the packing crates crushed and discarded in the video.

When ordering these, or any other expensive items from AliExpress, Alibaba, Temu, wish etc., the "cheap" price they show is ALWAYS the "down payment" or "peripheral cost". A 15000€ laser cleaner is listed on AliExpress for 236€, but when you look into it, the 236€ is for the laser safety goggles, and you need to contact the factory for quote on the device. For mini excavators, the price is a down payment which you need to negotiate with the factory too. That's if it isn't an outright scam. This video is the first one that actually mentions that buying this stuff isn't actually straightforward, nor cheap.
When you slap the tariffs, tax and freights on top of the price, it quickly becomes several times cheaper to buy an excavator used at your home country.
For reference I can buy an used mini excavator for around 5000 - 6000 € in Finland, and buying and importing that exact brand from China will cost around 8000€.

举个例子，在芬兰，我花5000-6000欧元就能买到一台二手迷你挖掘机，而从中国进口同一品牌的新机则需要大约8000欧元。

I bought my first excavator 15 years ago.  It was a half wrecked 10+ year old Komatsu PC12R-8.  I got it cheap because the hydraulic pump was cracked.  Replaced that for $1100 and kept the machine for 14 years.  Sold it last year for $2000 less than I paid for it (buyer drove 5 hours each way to collect it, and had guys ringing for several weeks later, asking if it was still for sale (I guess they took a bit of time getting ‘permission’ from the missus ��)
I bought a brand new Komatsu PC18 MR3. Phenomenal piece of kit.  
This little machine looks pretty good, but the buckets and all the components just even sound pretty lightweight.  Sure beats digging by hand, though.  
For the driveway gravel, try bolting a nice old railway sleeper to the grader blade, sticking out each side a good bit.  Does a fantastic job.
Also, I welded on a thickening plate and drilled a hole through the middle of the grader blade to accept a trailer tow ball (I cut through the square hitch receiver tube, just leaving the ball on a piece of 18mm thick steel bent 90’, with a M22bolt through the blade.  Great for towing a small trailer that you can dig into as you go.

后来我买了一台全新的小松PC18 MR3，这设备太出色了。
你这台小机器看起来也不错，但挖斗和所有部件听起来都很轻便。不过，总比徒手挖强多了。
至于车道铺碎石，你可以在推土铲上固定一块旧的铁路枕木，两边多伸出来一些，效果会非常好。
另外，我还在推土铲上焊了一块加厚板，中间钻了个孔，用来安装拖车牵引球（我把方形牵引座的管子切开，只留下牵引球固定在一块18毫米厚、弯成90度的钢板上，用M22螺栓穿过推土铲固定）。这样很适合拖一辆小拖车，干活的时候可以随时往里面装东西。

Watch Marty T from New Zealand...he has a couple of excavators including mini excavators....
When repairing potholes you need to use the ripper tooth to take apart the hole...so that the bottom of the hole that forms the "basin" gets holes in it improving drainage.
The new gravel then mixes in and "keys" to the hole.
Otherwise the new gravel just gets flicked way or washed away when the hole fills with water in the "basin"...
and a tyre running over it just pushes the water and the new gravel away from the hole.....
That's good excavator with plenty of accessories.
Always grease every part that needs greasing at the end of the day's work...ready for a quick start the next working day....

修复坑洼时，你需要用松土器把坑洼拆开，这样坑洼底部形成的“凹槽”就会有孔洞，改善排水。
然后新的碎石就能混合进去，和坑洼紧密结合。
否则，当“凹槽”里装满水时，新的碎石会被冲走或弹开，车轮压过时也会把水和碎石一起从坑里挤出去……
你这台挖掘机很棒，配件也很全。
每天工作结束后，一定要给所有需要润滑的部件上油，这样第二天就能快速开工了。
