Nine people suffered life-threatening injuries after an attack on a UK train last night (November 1).
The incident, which is being investigated by counter-terrorism police, took place on a train after it left Peterborough station in Cambridgeshire at 7.42pm. A man with a large knife is believed to have been shot with a Taser by police after going on a bloody rampage on a high-speed train.
British Transport Police (BTP) said two people have been arrested over the attack which happened on the 6.25pm service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross on Saturday. There have been no fatalities related to the incident so far as Keir Starmer described the attack as "deeply concerning".
BTP said a major incident was declared, and at one point declared “Plato”, the national code word used by police and emergency services when responding to a “marauding terror attack”, before the latter declaration was subsequently rescinded.
A spokesperson for BTP said: “We can confirm that at 7.42pm today (1 November) British Transport Police were called to reports of a multiple stabbing on board the 6.25pm train service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross.
“Officers immediately attended Huntingdon station alongside paramedics.
“Armed police from Cambridgeshire Police boarded the train and arrested two people in connection to the incident who have been taken to police custody.
“Ten people have been taken to hospital with nine believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries. One is being treated for non life-threatening injuries. There have been no fatalities.
“This has been declared a major incident and Counter Terrorism Policing are supporting our investigation whilst we work to establish the full circumstances and motivation for this incident.”
Witnesses have spoken of seeing a man with a large knife and passengers hiding in the toilets to escape the rampage, The Times reported. One told the paper there was “blood everywhere” and people were getting “stamped” on by others as they tried to flee.
The witness said: “I heard some people shouting we love (you).” The Sun said another witness described the attack as “like something from a film”, adding: “It was a terrible scene, really violent.”
A man who was travelling on the train has said he saw an “extremely bloodied” victim and that he believes a suspect was tasered.
The eyewitness, called Gavin, told Sky News: “I was in coach G and one of the people that were coming through, I heard them say: ‘They’ve got a knife, I’ve been stabbed’.
“They were making their way through the carriage to get away from the incident, from the suspect. They were extremely bloodied. That person ended up when we pulled in, they were basically on the floor.”
He said passengers were then escorted off the train onto the platform at Huntingdon.
“The armed police were pointing to the suspect as we come off the train,” he said.
“I asked what that suspect looked like? They said, it’s a black male in all black, so black hoodie. And essentially, as they got closer to him, started shouting, like, get down. Get down.
"He then was waving a knife, quite a large knife, and then they detained him. I think it was a taser that got him down in the end. But I only saw one person at that point.”
Olly Foster told the BBC he initially heard people shouting “run, run, there’s a guy literally stabbing everyone”, and believed it might have been a prank related to Halloween.
Mr Foster said that people quickly started pushing through the carriage, and he noticed his hand was “covered in blood” as there was “blood all over the chair” he had leaned on.
An older man “blocked” the attacker from stabbing a younger girl, leaving him with injuries to his head and neck, Mr Foster said, adding other passengers used their clothing to try and stem the bleeding. He said the incident “felt like forever”.
Video footage on social media showed scores of blue-light police cars and emergency vehicles in a station car park, and a team of armed police running towards the stationary train at Huntingdon station. Officers wearing forensic suits, with a police dog, could be seen on the platform.
The attack is understood to have started shortly after the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) train left Peterborough station.
Chief Superintendent Chris Casey said: “This is a shocking incident and first and foremost my thoughts are with those who have been injured this evening and their families. We’re conducting urgent enquiries to establish what has happened, and it could take some time before we are in a position to confirm anything further.
“At this early stage it would not be appropriate to speculate on the causes of the incident. Our response is ongoing at the station and will be for some time.
“Cordons are in place and trains are not currently running through the area, and there are also some road closures.”

I hate that I'm becoming immune to the news reports. Nothing shocks me now. I feel numb.

So true. And that includes news from around the world. Nowadays, I find myself scrolling through stuff like this with no reaction or feelings, it’s been like this for a while. My heart absolutely goes out to the victims, and I hope they all pull through. I’m sad for the them but news like this is becoming so normal that it’s wrong I feel nothing on what happened.

I wouldn’t say numb, I am in a state of intense hatred of the political and legal establishment which have enabled these crimes. They fought to cling to the power to retain the right to bring in these dangerous people despite a seemingly powerless majority insisting for years that they do something about it.
I want prosecutions of judges and politicians that have enabled this assault on us and our society. People are having their lives ruined every day by the people they bring here. Our sovereign government claim they are unable to solve the problem because they owe a greater allegiance to legislation and treaties and the international order than they do their own citizens.

Police statement on now.
Of the 2 ppl arrested, 1 is a black British male, the other a male of Carribbean origin. "Both are UK born". Police saying "there is nothing to suggest this is a terrorist incident".
Oh well that's ok then just a mental health thing with 2 ppl?
QuailMundane5103
They said 2 ppl both being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.
If it was 1 it could be written off (by authorities, etc) as a mental health case (eg Valdo Calocane)
But 2?

It's now only one person confirmed to be the attacker, the other had no involvement and was released from custody. I now hope this was just a mental health episode

The scary thing is that this event doesn’t even feel that impactful. Nine people are currently battling life threatening injuries because of a mass stabbing and it is starting to feel routine. It’s very concerning how normalised these things are beginning to feel.

Reach for the nearest fire extinguisher. Aim for the face.
With luck this gives you the opportunity to get yourself & others away from them. But if you can't get away then at least you're now holding a heavy metal cylinder and they can't see terribly well, and so your odds have thus improved a little...

The UK's political class will never admit it, but the elephant in the room is the fact that all these recent attacks etc This is the logical endgame of every single Multicultural society and nation in history. They all fail and collapse into violent sectarianism, random deadly terror attacks and gated segregated communities/enclaves and parallel societies. Conflict between the various different (often ethnic) groups now vying for dominance, power and control over the other and the remains of the State carcass. Multiculturalism is simply not a good or not a sustainable way to run a society/nation. It cannot and does not work ever. Britain will be no different, will meet the same end.
The British establishment have carried out the biggest betrayal of a people in history. Never forget that native indigenous British people never asked for or never wanted this, it has been a deliberate political choice.

More stop and search.
Harsher penalties for possession of a knife.
Get caught with one and the police raid your house, confiscate absolutely everything not essential for sustaining life and donate it all to charity. You loose all your possessions besides a few clothes and one pair of shoes. Plus 10 years evenings and weekends community service.
Watch as knife crime evaporates.

That would ruin society thats so dumb, millions of peoples carry knives basically everywhere, and you wanna ruin their lives over that? Also, more stop and search is the worst thing that could happen

It would only take the threat of the new increased punishments and a few people having the book thrown at them for everyone else to fall in line.

This is terrifying to see, not only because that was obviously very impactful and traumatic for the victims, but because I was almost on that train... I was going to visit family friends with my dad for Halloween and to take that exact train back but we decided not to go. Crazy to think about.

If you terrorise normal British people in Britain, it should be nothing short of being called terrorism. There is no strict definition that terrorism can only be called for 50+ victims and not less.
