This heist was surprisingly unsophisticated, how did the thieves just grind away at a whole window in broad daylight
@FreeWorld-l3n
It's not hard to steal anything when u have team work
@vinikak8214
It would be funny for all these jewellery items to appear in some national museum in Egypt, for the local public and tourists to enjoy the treasures of old French Empire…
@mosshark
That seemed way too easy.
@GarrettOlsons
I didn’t realize it was this easy. Wish I would have thought of this first
@timothybasil
The thieves, realizing they can't sell the pieces, watching this video: "Ohh, dismantling them! That's a good idea, thanks WSJ."
@onsokumaru4663
Americans make hour long movies about heist jobs, French do it in real life in 7 minutes. Salute.
@Ylulu71
Where are the Lasers? Motion sensors? Thermal cameras? Indestructible glasses? Security nowadays isn’t what it was back in the 00s.
@aabb-up3jn
Faultless planning. Perfect execution. Compliments to the team.
@Blex_040
Every freaking company dealing with sensitive or valuable data hires physical pen testers that find clever and hidden ways to break in, how is it that one of the most famous museums in the world storing "priceless" artifacts doesn't do that and leave such an obvious vulnerability in their security system (if you even can call it that)?!
I guess part of the answer to that is: private company with investors vs. underfunded public instutite
@xkolm49
I don't get it, are there no alarms lixed to breaking the outer glass window? Sounds like it might be a good idea...in a museum?
@queenmi274
They haven’t stepped up security yet for such priceless jewels? I won’t say what I’m thinking. Good luck with recovery tho.
@stephenmaxey6665
Was always of the belief that what was on display regarding crown jewels in England from being there years ago was what you saw were replicas. The real jewels were kept under lock and key. Were these the real jewels?
@MrLegendra
They should break down those jewels so that it is unrecognizable and easier to sell. Also how could they drop the crown...thats the most important piece
@antooin_tnaonio9518
It’s insane the truck was allowed to enter the vicinity of the museum unchecked unbothered unquestioned and thieves to steal priceless jewels with ‘guards’ there, it’s so bad it’s almost cartoonish like
@kwmrlee
A truck with an telescopic ladder pulls next to the museum, four guys jump out of it , engaged the ladder , two climb it and started cutting the glass on that balcony door, but NO security guards where monitoring what’s going on ? Specifically when there is a security camera on the top left side of that balcony cornice, no guards notice that on the monitor of that camera , if so none of this heist would have ever happened.
@Tipsy92
It's unimaginable that they got away with this so fast, how can the security be that trash even after multiple heists
@KelsJune
No respect for France’s security. I’m surprised we aren’t hearing of more these for some time now. There’s a reason Isis loves attacking France - weakest security in Europe
@wbj2000
They could be dismantled or a part of a wealthy private collection. If you were an ultra wealthy oligarch , you might want some special items for your collection.
@kayell1010
There weren’t even any laser sensors they had to breakdance through to get to the jewels?
@Fatdoinkss
These pieces were targeted for a specific reason, no shot they're dismantled. My Guess is that there was a benefactor that hired a crew for new additions for his private collection.
@debduttagupta77
When we go to lodge complain to the FRENCH police about burglary at the residence or owner of work, or your phone or wallet gets stolen in france, They say it would be difficult to catch the thieves ,please claim the insurance.. and then the insurance never arrives. I wish they gone the same answer here.
@Cronkna
That would be crazy if the occurrence air to Napoleon orchestrated this to try to make a new French empire, imagine he stole them in order to wear them
@Bl0dyGore
What's the point of a guard if he even can't defend himself and the things he is guarding. You want to tell me they didn't have a tazer gun or something?
@hywodnsu
Trouble is they employ only Frenchmen who have won the Tour De France recently as security guards. And they are either very old or very dead.
@Timematrix-v6w
This will be a Netflix movie soon but what's interesting is that I can Los Angeles this would never happen The law enforcement security of just the best they're the best in the world things like this don't happen it would be broken up before it even got started so interesting we'll see how this thing unfold
@strangevideos3048
All those precious items in the museum were stolen by France. Why do people think they belong to France?
@EmperorLateral
I'm gonna call it right here, they're going to catch the thieves at or in the most random situation possible
like we're going to catch them selling the jewelry at a pawn shop or something
edit: or the thieves try to return the furniture lift or the guy who gave it to them snitches on them
all I'm saying it's going to be the most dumbest reason possible
@kevsiwtwbwcw
The engineer supervising the museum’s repairs and his workers are the ones who stole the jewelry because whoever left the crane there for months because he was planning at the right time to steal the jewelry and the workers also know everything what they need above the workers of this company and the engineer by his order left the crane there so that no one suspects I do not want to wrong anyone but my suspicions are whoever left the crane near the building is responsible and the thieves were there they know where to walk and where to get down and how to raise the crane and how they knew what they needed iron scissors to cut something how because they are the workers of this building and their eyes were there and the professional thief who left the crane truck near the building is responsible and the thief do not think far
@fortuneltd3591
Jewellery is good thing to steal as not famous like paintings and can always modify for different beautiful pieces. The Arab buyers would be happy and the thieves can live happily every after
@jomarcentermjm
Seeing a Napoleon owned jewels is involved. According to the game franchise rhythm thief... those jewels are stolen for the purpose of reviving Napoleon ans his superweapon or something. Should we all be concerned?
@Dirtbiker4life
Theif’s are legitimate bottom feeders, they can only shine when taking advantage of others because they can’t do anything else. Instead of benefitting society they want to stay uneducated and only cause harm to others because they think it’s “cool”. Sad/pathetic they don’t know any better. Remember EVERYONE gets their wake up call…
@mkwilson38
People like this that did this KNOW exactly how NPC most people are today. So they KNEW they could do this, that NO-ONE would stop them in the moment….ESPECIALLY if they were brown or black. France is COOKED! They can’t utter anything! ‘See something, say something’ will get YOU put in jail.
I hope they aren’t wondering how this was able to occur. If so, the law is just as NPC…
@Keith-k7e3v
Someone knows where that is there surely not alot people who would have the money, resources or want to have the jewellery bearing in mind who you going to sell it to.Apart from it going to some rich Saudi who will show it off to his friends and they will be able to sell it amongst themselves but it's still kind of pointless cause it's a stolen item they don't hold the same value and I wanna say if they was taking it for themselves and not a "client" with the idea of melting the gold down surely there woulda been better robbing a jewellery/gold shops but then they did make this look easy,how did they cut in to the building,cut the security box and hold back all the guards armed with nothing but a grinder.great advertisement for what ever brand it was.
@bozzibozziana5366
Maybe France is being paid in its own currency. The french lotted millions of artwork from Africa during the world war 2 and till date not all this things have been returned to the owners, rather are displayed in mesiums accross France. As diamond and gold is dear to the French woodwork is priceless to Africans
@PhilComanphotography
Maybe this is just for the glory of being perceived as such genius jewel heist Euro-stars. Like a sophisto arty movie from the 60’s . They will be caught soon enough. And it will be interesting to see what their motive was. I’m keeping my eye on eBay. So far no crown French jewels going for $500B . Starting bid $495B . How ridiculous. I think these guys are just looking for euro glory of some weird sort. Even if there was a private buyer and this was pre-set up, how is that private buyer ever going to realize any value on anything like this. They can never be sold. Or maybe this was just a bizarre publicity stunt to demo just how poor the security is at that museum
@RA-Redacted68
Are they originals, or copies, as we all know they don't display the real ones due to theft happening. And they were in there for 7 minutes, sounds like their security needs updating
@1991kessu
Priceless pieces of history gone forever because the protections against theft or destruction were below the average Walmart. Imagine with all the defaced painting you can still just walk in with a hammer and grab what you want with no one even trying to stop you. People like to say this was inside job and they are kinda right. The sheer F incompetence of the entire museum leadership and staff truly show how well DEI initiatives work...
@ProfessorOfLogic980
The museum guards quickly surrendered to the thieves.
@ancientvoices1
Given the reports of low morale and mismanagement at the museum this is not surprising. Was the lift truck stolen or rented? They also found the motorbikes, where they stolen? What about photos/video from the museum?
@williammacdonald9905
this is actually really sad. the loss of such important cultural items to France’s rich history is a tragedy. i truly hope the French get them back.
@HL-fy8nq
The thieves threaten the guards with a grinding tool? And the guards just say: ok, your tool looks very dangerous, go ahead and do what you want?

Hold up hold up stop the clock. Where’s the surveillance footage? You’re trying to tell me they don’t have cameras set up in this museum????

I wonder why museums buying these treasures for millions of dollars, wouldn’t implant smth like AirTag in each of them?

The rhythm Thief strikes again first he robs the game version of this museum then he robs the real one if only we could have seen them hiding behind the statues.
For those who are unaware a game called Rhythm Thief had a level that was based off of this museum…an in that level you rob it in such a stupid and easy to counter way it’s a shock you didn’t get caught…how fitting it happens irl…
@AndrewSunada
Wouldn't it be nice if the authorities gave this much attention to actual life threatening and meaningful crimes?

You would think that after stealing the Mona Lisa they must have made display replicas to protect it

@fairfieldnorth319
No security cameras (or video recording) outside covering the building? No one can see this happening? If so, security very lame. Many large cities have so much government or private video recording that everything gets recorded in the case its needed. A picture maybe worth a thousand words but a video is a sure conviction!
@Erinba
What I wanna know is what they’re gonna do with it? Sell privately …. Take apart… what?

The Louvre hired its 'DEI quality' first woman security chief. A huge and embarrassing price to pay when stupid ideology is put ahead of merit.

Yes, many of the most famous diamonds in the French Crown Jewels have origins in India. Specifically, the Golconda mines in the southern part of the country were the source for some of the most notable gems.
Key Indian diamonds in the collection include:
The Regent Diamond: Discovered in the Kollur Mine in India around 1698.
The Tavernier Blue Diamond: The predecessor to the Hope Diamond, it was also purchased in India by Jean-Baptiste Tavernier.
The Sancy Diamond: Believed to have originated in the Golconda region.
The Hortensia Diamond: Also mined in India, this pale orange-pink diamond is still part of the collection at the Louvre.
While India was the origin for many of the collection's spectacular diamonds, other stones in the jewels came from different parts of the world, including emeralds from Colombia, amethysts from Russia, and topazes from Brazil.
