Oil is not as readily available as people think; however, it is essential for most economies. This creates conditions that countries will enter into long-term contracts with whoever is offering a stable supply, sometimes regardless of price. i.e. countries without their own energy resources will put security of supply before price.

So, it’s not a matter of suddenly becoming “interested”, it’s a matter of suddenly becoming available.

I'll be honest I'm not 100% sure what the answer to thos question is. I just wanna say what I hope the answer is, then I can find out if that's correct or not. I hope, it's because Canada is actively working to stop doing as much trade as we possibly can with USA. So I hope Canada has been letting the world know that lots of what we are for now selling to the USA is up for grabs if anyone in interested. In conclusion I hope we are able to stop doing as much buinsess with the USA as possible as quickly as possible, other then with regards to our auto industries, that situation sounds complicated and sounds so tangled up with them, I don't think that's something that can be messed with. Same with the electricity we sell then I think we are probably stuck there. Aswell as with potash, I don't think we have to sell potash to USA but I doubt they will stop doing for for whatever reason. I think they should sell it to other counties if they can, let USA get its potash from the other country that has it (aka) the new bestfriend and top allie of the USA, Russia. I bet Putin would be very willing to give a better deal lol.

In the past the main trading lixs that Canada had was with its southern neighbour. While it did not gain the maximum price for its resources, it had what it considered a good deal with its neighbour. Then America elected Trump as its president , and he oversaw an upxe to the trade agreement Canada had with America. That upxe was accepted by congress. Canada started to plan and implement infrastructure that could move its resources that the world wanted to ports that could export those resources to other nations, who were willing to deal honestly with Canada. Du ever Canada’s size those ports can export to nations both around the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. The EU had been increasing its trade in some of the resources that Canada was willing to export with Russia, believing that increasing trade would be mutually beneficial and improve relations between Russia and Europe. When Russia invaded Ukraine, one of the ‘soft’ options was to impose sanctions on Russian imports to affect the Russian government to halt the war it had started. Russia responded by reducing / stopping its exports to European countries whilst still continuing with its invasion of Ukraine. While not an unexpected action on Russia’s part it did highlight the dependence that European countries had developed in importing cheap resources from Russia. The countries still had the demand for the resources that Russia had been supplying, so they started to look to other countries who were willing to export such resources to Europe.

Which would enable Canada to increase its trade with counties other than the USA. The current president of the USA is acting without congress approval having declared a state of national security to exist in America, with one region of his concern being Canada. his initial idea of subsuming Canada into the USA was rejected by the Canadian government, the premiers of the provinces and the people of Canada. The Canadian government and Canadian people are retaliating against what they see as a betrayal of one of their oldest and most trusted trading partners, and are reacting accordingly. Trump has initiated a trade war with Canada and every other nation in the world, with the introduction of tariff to.make their exports to the USA more expensive for the American consumer while also serving to reduce the export volumes from those countries into the USA. A consequence of such a trade war is that countries are rebalancing where they source their raw imported materials from and seeking to export their manufactured goods to markets other than the USA.
