As a Canadian, I won’t be paying American tariffs. That’s why Canada dropped retaliatory tariffs on US products, we are not in the business of destroying lives on purpose in Canada.
That being said, Americans just won’t buy Canadian products because of this, so I won’t spend money in or on American products either.

Didn't anyone pay attention when Trump took away the under $800.00 exemption for single orders shipped into the US. That's why many countries have suspended all shipments through their postal service to the US. Many carriers such as DHL have done the same. Come on people, get educated.

This is why the EU accepted a "bad deal" instead of fighting back with their own tariffs. Because those counter tariffs wouldn't be against the USA but against its own people. Nobody wins in a tariff war but by not fighting back there is currently only one loser: the USA.

Republicans lowered taxes for billionaires and imposed tariffs on the poor. But, I don't know if it's true, I heard a guy say earlier today that the top 10% are actually spending more money than ever right now and propping up the economy. So I don't think they care about the tariffs like the average working person does.

The tariff on some goods from Canada are as high as 35%, 50% on steel, aluminium, wood and copper, but near zero on goods made in Canada.  So that one lady that said her tariff was 200 0n 100dollar goods, is being scammed.  Be careful Americans, this could be a new scam deal.

Just FYI information these tarriffs may have some effect on other countries but most will just find other markets and when the US rejoins the world trade it WILL be in a much weaker and untrustworthy trading partner so your economy will now take generations to recover, if it ever does as you will no longer be bargaining from a position of strength due to market size. You voted for it!

If you receive a bill from FedEx or DHL or UPS, that means you ordered an item directly from another country, that makes you the importer. The importer pays the tariff simple as that. There’s no one  in-between that can decide whether they want to charge you for it or not it’s your bill from US customs.

I believe the first lady may be getting scammed. Typically those fees need to be paid before you can take possession of the package. Huge container shipments are abandoned at our ports for this very reason.

Trump has flipped flopped so many times on tariff rates, some shipping companies are probably often just charging the top rate by default, and worrying about updating their computer systems later.
The demands are then only reviewed and validated by a human if they are contested. So any errors in the amount of tariff charged by the carrier is always in their favor.

People in my town were all excited about the "external revenue service." They were talking like the IRS would be no more because Trump would get the revenue from other countries. Tariffs are always paid by importers and eventually passed on to consumers, not by exporters. That’s just basic economics.

As a Canadian I am aware of how the courier companies work, especially UPS.
The product will be shipped through UPS and they will send it to their broker (who will charge you based on their rates.  Their rates are usually a flat fee of $50.00 to $100.00 no matter how much the product cost) then the broker will pay the tariff.  You will then get the bill which will include the tariff, the broker fees the shipping costs and tax on top of all of that.  FedEx is a bit better but in my experience UPS is a bear.

Had that happen to me where I too the text message with me and drove to my local post office and asked them about it and they said it’s a scam. They don’t ask for additional fees

This comment has nothing to do with the video..but i have watched alot of videos of people in debt and so on and cannot pay their student loans..If anyone is planning to study in the near future or go to university...Then I recommend you do it abroad. I am American living in Germany. Going to university here in this country is FREE for students...I know this for a fact. I personally know 10 to 20 people who had immigrated to Germany because of the free education. People from China, India, Syria, and also the United States and countries in Africa. I studied 4 years in Dunfermline and Stirling Scotland from 2012 to 16..and it was FREE. The educational opportunities and system SUCKS in America!!

The ladies with tariff bills from Canada, should check with the companies they ordered their items from, Canada is still covered under the USMCA or CUSMA, which covers at least 85 percent of items coming from Canada which therefore are not subject to tariffs. But the U.S. border services are uneducated as to what is subject to the tariffs, and so they just charge everyone. If you have ordered items from Canada or from Mexico, it is very likely that you do not owe the tariff, do not pay it until you check with the company that you ordered from and then fight it.

I went to a recently opened new quilt store that can only buy high quality items from overseas.  They made a major purchased BEFORE the deadline to not incur tariffs.  The fabric was ordered, paid for, delivered, and they got a bill for the tariffs after the fact.  Unfortunately, this new small business will probably not survive.  How can you price your merchandise to make a profit if you don't know your true cost or the cost is so high that you don't have any customers?  The strategy to charge the tariff after the item is delivered works, it reduces delivery services from having stockpiles of stuff refused by the customer.

UPS won't even relinquish your package until it's paid, the UPS wasted a route to tell me to pay before re-delivery that's time labor and fuel wasted because they don't have logistic to deal with this kind of shit and they're losing money hand over fist.  Didn't Supreme Court ruled that these tariff is illegal and Scott Basett said they might have to return half of collected tariffs.

I got a tariff in Canada for a $75.00 order from the states. The Oder plus an extra delivery charge from a pet charity was over $200.00. I’ve ordered for years from this website, so Canadians are affected as well. Same thing, no delivery if I didn’t cough up the money. All the stuff is made in China.

I'm just stumped how people didn't and still don't understand how this works. If you order privately from a foreign located web site you are the importer and the transport company's (FedEx, UPS, DHL...) duty to calculate and on behalf of customs collect the tariff from YOU the importer. And as many assumes the importer "eats" the tariff.

From Spain: We sell aluminum parts to the US. We had to increase the price by 30% to partially offset the tariffs, which are 54% (because it's aluminum). Our customers shouldn't receive two invoices because the tariffs are paid with that price increase. Are the middlemen ripping off customers?

I went to Mexico for medical and dental stuff. On return in April 2025 I had to pay $14.67 tariff.  I had to present all receipts and prescxtions. They made my take out my new partial denture to prove my claim.

The last lady that was on, only got a refund of that $180 tariff because the tariffs were paused at the time of her ordering and receiving that item. There’s no way she would’ve been refunded otherwise, because the merchant can’t afford to pay $180 extra for the items they send out either, or they lose their business because they’d also be losing a ton of money. We are all suffering while Trump rolls around on the money he’s pickpocketed from all of us. It doesn’t matter what side of politics you’re on we all are feeling this and it’s one thing we all can agree on.

I know someone who works at the airport for an importer. When appliances come in, different tariffs have to be paid because the appliances have parts from different countries. So if the grills on a stove are from country x and the burners from country z, the importer has to calculate the charges to the end customer before the merchandise can clear customs.

How is the Tariff's unexpected?  Trump told you and the world how much of a tariff he put on each country.  You order and item from someone outside the USA then you pay the Tariff, it is simple to understand.  the USA is paying the Tariff not the Country outside of the USA, this is not rocket science.

I ordered a 19.95 product from Greece, the vendor contacted me before shipping to let me know the tariffs would be an additional 15.00. Fortunately he let me cancel the order.  This is crazy
