This is what happends when you have an idiot Barbie running Homeland Security and hire people as ICE agents who can barely make it thru High School. I have been to South Korea and understand the shock they are expressing due to outrageous treatment of their engineers and technicians. These skilled workers have been sent over to help built a plant to their specifications that will eventually employ hundreds of American workers.

By chaining and treating Korean professionals in such a demeaning way is a damaging image of the US in the eyes of Koreans. Well done! America has once again underestimated Asian cultural sensitivity and its lasting impact moving forward.
@sparkie996
I've heard directly from one of those affected that South Korean engineers were denied by the US in getting the appropriate work visa's for no apparent reason. The contracts they have with the US to build the plant within a certain timefrx meant the Koreans were scrambling to get over to the US to furfill their contractural obligations and some shortcuts were taken.
Moral of the story is don't sign a contract with the US unless you are guaranteed visa's for your staff.
@Leeah182
It was my immediate thought when I heard this happened, I’m in Canada. You can’t trust “Americans” right now.
@RiNa-br8jn
US forced S Koreans comolpanies to move their facilities to US and built the new ones. The governmenr did not issue work Visas to the workers to install equipments. You cannot hire US workers to install such high tech facilitites. It should be done by the developers.
@StevenJones-wk3kg
Stop saying the USA is a friend. The USA is the aggressor and destructor of international norms.
The USA needs a Department of WAR to control its own citizenship.
Its own law making body (congress) is inept to stop the President from stealing money from it citizens.
@ireney563
In 2025, witnessing a human being dragged in chains like a slave is nothing short of disgraceful and intolerable. This is not the conduct of an ally. After investing trillions to build factories and support their economic growth, to be repaid with such contempt is an insult beyond measure
@ViveVie-s3c
Intellectual Koreans will not work in the U.S. anymore. They are treated well in Korea. Do Americans make arrests like this, too? It is shocking. This cannot happen in Korea. Wow!
@bhchung854
For those who still can’t seem to wrap their heads around this supposedly “complicated” situation, here it is in plain language: ICE barged in, slapped chains on, and chased away the hardworking “Christmas elves” who were meant to finish the job and get the presents ready for you. And guess what? The presents aren’t coming. Now the work is yours. So tell me, can you really pull off the elves’ job, bush people? Or will you just sit there waiting, wondering why Christmas morning feels so empty?
@jmpattillo
These companies should announce that they are down all their plants in the southeast. That will panic the MAGAs down here. Those plants are economic anchors
这会让这里的MAGAs(特朗普支持者)慌了。
@HealthExplained-wh2tb
The USA delights in giving offense to every country on earth. This is just a particularly nasty example, laden with theatre and symbolism, that will stick in people's minds for a long time.
@radwulfeboraci7504
The Koreans should put a padlock on the project until somebody from Trump's admin comes to S.K and explains this slap in the face. Your report clarified NOTHING. Why did LG bring these persons from Korea? Were they told it was allowed? Who ordered the raid? What did the White House say about this? This humiliation will be a loss of face for S.K
@dennislee4108
These Korean employees are not criminals and they are highly educated. They are there to build factories in the US directed by their company. You don't chain them all around their bodies like homicide fugitives. That is really humiliating.
@장조림-j9f
The foolish Mr. Trump is making an outrageous demand: not only that 8,500 American workers be employed and trained, but also that we teach them how to build state-of-the-art production facilities. There is only one course of action Korea can take: an indefinite postponement. Those 8,500 jobs will be lost forever.
@AvocadoHunt
Korea should shutdown and pull their factories. Classic betral. I hope the Koreans involved in this raid speak out, cause we know the cult right is going to spin this to try to protect this tyrant US Administration.
@jeongahkim3327
How many Americans come to Korea on tourist visas and work as English teachers? If they were chained up and thrown in jail, what would Americans think?
@JOKER-r6r4r
Korean engineers are barred from entering the United States, and American engineers lack the technical skills. This means investment is impossible. The US wants investment, but it fails to find a solution and unilaterally imposes its demands on investors, a common practice in communist countries. Trust between allies has already been severely damaged. Is the US, which insults us as an ally, truly our ally? China, Russia, and countless other weaker nations will only become more united under US tyranny. The US is the cause.
@annalim7713
Any contry or company those who trusted Trump and poured in massive investments ended up looking like complete idiots.
@pauldiamond9219
I kinda hope Hyundai walk away from this factory that apparently promises 8,500 new jobs for Georgia...when completed by the engineers and techs they just arrested and led out in shackles. Even if they dont, I am pretty sure they wont be investing much more into the project...would you?
@ezrajy
System of the USA does not support investment from South Korea, skilled workers should be involved during construction and inital stages for factory. The USA does not issue sufficient working visa to Koreans. The USA has been making South Korea invest and build factories, how can we build factories in time without skilled workers from South Korea? Building hi-tech factories is different from building Cathedral. Propaganda of some politicians and people of Maga has been hallucinating people in the US. Eventually, at all factories on US soil, all jobs are for Americans(citizens) here in the USA after completion of factory and stabilization of operation. Patience makes result, please wait until then !!!!!!
@mariesong729
Why is legacy media hiding the fact that a woman running for congress report d the factory under the guise that it was “unsafe” working conditions. Really? Is that not an OSHA thing?
这难道不是OSHA(美国职业安全健康管理局)该管的事吗?
@Liboch
Now that those Korean workers have been deported, you think American workers can install those proprietary equipments which require specialised skills and to handle the specialised tools? . Will it meet the performance parameters? Will it not cause fatalities due to improper installations? . The chances are the project would stall for years.
@MaryWoo-w6q
Investment from south Korea Trump said yes come and your people , and now throwing them out before the work is finish . So who will finish the work now ?
@grf411
Do you want me to tell you something that's really scary that's not mentioned here? Koreans are fleeing out of America. Not just from this one facility but from all over America. Out of all internationals manufacturing firms from abroad; Korea, Japan, Germany and Taiwan, Korean firms were most enthusiastic, betting all in on building manufacturing facilities in America. They thought, it was going to be more cost effective to manufacture goods inside America, than paying the tarrifs. Since when they came in, Biden promised them with all the incentives, and they truly believed, America was reliable partner.
Meaning they have already created manufacturing clusters that are integral part of American manufacturing supply chain, where others firms heavily relies on, including American automotive companies like GM, Ford (electronic car division, the part they inshored back to America), and Tesla as well on the chips and the essential auto parts.
Now imagine what's going to happan when all the top experts who are running these factories disappear, because they are afraid they would be arrested, chained, detained and criminalized? Imagine what it will do to American supply chain.

The producers of American goods are hindered by the secret services themselves, which have grown like a cancerous tumor. It is not far from the bankruptcy of the USA.
@mikecleartalk
Korean high-tech engineers were shackled legs, zip tied hands, and chained them each other like war prisoners. Total humiliation. It is wrong to abused ESTA visiting programs but too much. Korean politicians demand kicking out all American tourists visa English teachers in korea and cancel the investment in the US.

At that time, Korean companies with factories in China were
I left all the factories in China and was driven to Korea

@GameAIWorld-i4q
"This is a self-inflicted wound. The U.S. tells foreign companies to invest—but then enacts immigration raids that still scare them off. Harm done to cooperation and diplomacy."
@pippa3693
Those Korean workers were vital to constructing the Hyundai battery plant—that’s the whole reason they were there. Do you really think Hyundai would rather spend money flying them halfway across the world than simply hire Americans, if qualified replacements existed? With this raid, ICE didn’t create jobs for Americans; instead, they destroyed them by halting the very project that would have provided those jobs once the plant was completed.
@K-Yune
Notice all the Korean comments on here? I have read Americans saying that Korea won't do anything and business will be normal, apparently they only know Kpop. Korea and much of Asia doesn't hug alliance when disrespected. There has already been a shift here (I live in Korea) slowly inching away from America and strengthening other relations. I'm starting to wonder if this next chapter in history won't be just two opposing world power groups (America/Europe Vs China/Russia/NK/India) but perhaps the world split into 3 alliance groups with the US all on it's own.
@johnheaney6383
Monumental incompetence and stupidity. If you are a company thinking of investing and building in the USA…DONT!
Your experienced technician, engineers and IT personnel sent to the USA to teach people how to run the business could be arrested and detained at any moment. What rational person would subject them selves to this?
@moontraveller518
They are not criminals. Nobody deserved to be treated like how these engineers and staff were treated. Unacceptable no matter who the recipients of this treatment was. It's called basic human rights and decency towards other humans.
@dokileagles
Wow, I am really shocked how the US is actually seeing and treating South Koreans. Definitely not as a friend...
@87792
America with its arrogant policy towards friends and allies will only minimize positive perception from them. Your America's influences around the world are gradually but surely diminishing. Great Job Donald!

I guess we can kiss that $62billion that South Korea was going to invest in manufacturing in the US good bye now
@milkyway-bf7ol
This shocking case could, in fact, become a turning point for Korea. It is now time to reassess the economic, diplomatic, and military aspects of the alliance with the United States.
Trump has given Korea more than enough justification to do so.
@qkrtmdwn5739
why would any foreign/international country want to invest into the united states after they saw what happened with south korea? clearly all foreign international investments are NOT welcome and it was never a matter of legally being able to... i didnt know about them being detained using chains (not even proper handcuffs) but literal chains tied to their wrists, waist and ankles.... this is degrading and dehumanizing
@jacynthe2011
I can understand the South Koreans i'm canadian and we feel the betrayal too...

Let me clarify the facts here.
This factory was originally planned to be built in Korea, not Georgia. Hyundai made the decision to relocate it to Georgia specifically to create jobs for Americans - 8,500 jobs to be exact, with a $5.5 billion investment.
The Korean workers who were arrested were not immigrants trying to steal American jobs. They were skilled technicians sent temporarily to set up the factory and train American workers. This is standard practice in international manufacturing investments.
If there were visa issues, those should have been resolved through proper diplomatic channels, not through mass arrests that treated these workers like criminals.
The irony is profound: Korea moved a factory that could have provided jobs for Koreans to Georgia to benefit Americans, and the thanks they get is their workers being arrested en masse.
This incident will undoubtedly make other countries think twice before investing in American manufacturing. Why would any nation send their skilled workers to help build American factories if this is how they'll be treated?
Korea sent a chartered plane to bring their people home. But if Americans had been treated this way in another country, the US would have sent B-52 bombers.
Due to political diplomacy and semi-coercive Trump tariff negotiations, Korea will continue investing in the US in shipbuilding, semiconductors, batteries, and other sectors. However, Korea's top engineers and technicians will refuse assignments to the United States. This time it was chains, but next time it might be gunshots in return. Frankly, Koreans are deeply shocked and disappointed by America as a country after this incident.
