@andrew-o6s USAF veteran here, I do appreciate a strong military, I also know about the money wasted in the military. Imagine if we could focus on feeding children, having good, safe schools for them to attend, no let's waste billions on military aircraft, just my opinion.

If this presentation is a demonstration of 'leading by example', by the president of the United States of America, I get the overwhelming feeling that America in the long run is done for. Openly stating that you are going to sell 'toned down versions'? It was already a problem with the F-35, but who in their right mind would want to buy this plane now? I feel sorry for these poor generals being forced to partake in this public humiliation... It's as if you can see the spirit that made America great, fading and dimming before your eyes. The silver lining may be that this spirit is taking hold and kindling innovation elsewhere in the world.

I didn't see the rank of the USAF officer who isn't speaking, but I saw that the other is a 4 star general. They should BOTH be standing at attention or at ease. They're wearing the uniform. Instead they look weak and are a disgrace to the uniform.
They've been officers too long. They're too comfortable disgracing the uniform by looking like uncomfortable, insecure wallflowers at a dance.

The "F-47" is a nod to the WW2 era "Republic P-47 Thunderbolt", the "letter and number" naming is perhaps most famous with the North American Aviation P-51 Mustang. It has nothing to do with Trump being the 47 President so calm down people.

$300 million for an aircraft is too expensive and will be useless in future warfare. Future wars are going to be really long and countries need cheaper mass produced solutions for survival. These aircrafts will also have high per hour fly cost.

PLA 6th gen carry 1000 range missile while US the best is 150km. F47 is pretty useless because PLA can just shoot down AWAC and you lose all command and control.

The problem with manned vehicles is that so much of the weight and engineering is dedicated towards keeping the pilot safe. Think about the control panels, the cockpit, life support and ejection system. A 6th generation drone could be smaller, stealthier, and fly at Mach speeds while performing long range missions without aerial refueling. We're not talking about propeller powered Reaper drones, we're talking about jet drones with payloads comparable to the F-35.

Musk is sort of right. If they spent that 20 billion on highly maneuverable and fast drones swarms, we would be far better off. Drones like that could stop missiles, jets, be used in offense, and most defensive scenarios. Just look at Ukraine-drones determine everything, while jet-fighters are nowhere to be seen given the anti-air. I think for every dollar they spend on this program, it should be matched with another for drones.

If it requires a human pilot on board to physically fly the aircraft: It is already antiquated, about 15 years too late. The simple fact is that manned aircraft are limited by the pilots ability to deal with extreme forces. Unmanned aircraft are only limited by their structural integrity and do not require a highly trained pilot to be put in harms way every single flight.
The future of air warfare are drones.
We might as well just save some money and build more F-18s, as long as we are building vehicles to continue to operate within antiquated air combat theory, let's go with an aircraft we already know that works. Instead of this MIC money grab aircraft.
