Current SPAA are already the best in the world, It's just that you don't see them in media exhibition, also the one in War Thunder is super gimped like most of other Chinese vehicles, so you never know how good the real life performance is.

It's medium weight. It's just most of NATO equipments are extremely overweighted. For example M10 booker, It's performance is like a Leopard1A4, was supposed to be a light tank using IFV chassis, but ends up weighted like a T-72 so they had to change the name to mobile gun system. I wouldn't call a T-72 a light tank. It's just that American light tank is heavy like MBTs.

They have bunch of those engineering vehicles based on numerous chassis such as type 99a type96 type04 type59/69 even the type 08 has engineering versions. Here are some of the engineering vehicles names and you can look it up I am sure there are plenty more that I might have missed. GCZ-110 GCZ-111 (Type 77) GZM-003 GSL-133 GSL-130 GCZ-112 Type 653A

Apparently, people recognised the Image 4 vehicle from before. It's just that the new camo made it somewhat less recognisable. It was previously shown as an airborne troop vehicle to be dropped along with troops, sort of like a BMD-4, I guess?

They have APS on them. Which have been demonstrated in defeating high angle of attack RPG's. Cant find the video but its been posted on this sub.

But can i just say the TC (i assume) standing in the hull looks so goofy. The infantry uniform and gear doesnt help either

There’s this thing called, retiring out of date vehicles. Something China doesn’t know since they still operate thousands of type-59s

A quick google search will result in you finding out that PLAGF do not in fact operates "Thousands of Type 59s" but only 400 and the data is quite old. As to answer why they did not replace the older tanks is that until now is that simply no tank is suitable to replace them. The Type 96/88/59 are extremely light by modern standards and are deployed on the southern part due to terrible terrain not capable of suppprt heavy tanks. This tank should be a replacement for all the obsolete light MBTs they operate.

1st: the type 59 is in deep reserve and not for immidiate frontline use. (The US has m60 tanks in reserve)

2nd: Upgrading old models is done by everyone. The abrams is a 70s tank that will not get replaced for a looong time and theres nothing wrong with that. Upgraded tanks can still be very effective.
