I read an article yesterday where Trump was asked at a press conference about the billions of dollars worth of products that the United States currently imports from Russia, and why India is being singled out and targeted like they are. The article went on to say that in 2024 alone, the US imported $1.27 billion worth of fertilizer from Russia, as well as $624 million of uranium and plutonium, and $878 million of Palladium. Of course, Trump replied 'I don't know anything about that', and 'I'll have to look into it'. That's the level of hypocrisy and stupidity that you get when you're dealing with the most incompetent President in US history.

The US software companies in India pay no taxes in india and take 35 billion dollars in profits. Trump does not strangely consider that. India is now contemplating an export tariff to USA for Pharmaceutical products and Software services. That will double the pharmaceutical prices in USA. Trump can go ahead and act tough with India but Modi and his team is ready with the stick.
India today cancelled 2 billion dollars of aircraft and plan to cancel further orders of 300 Boeing aircraft.

China import more than India, but US can't do much to them. Europe import more CNG from Russia than India. And don't say that they are reducing. July year on year growth of import by EU is 37%.
Target India as much you want, it will only make us stronger and as they say hard time create strong men (nation).

Just imagine the headache it is for USA importers, with all those different tariffs % in all the countries they could buy from, and have to look for each products in the stores to try to save and compare prices purchases on all lists …

India's foreign policy puts its national interest first. If the US really wants to make India stop buying Russian oil, why don't they come up with a plan to supply cheaper oil to India? It will definitely make India pivot their oil trade from Russia to elsewhere.

Someone pls explain him that it’s Americans only that is paying Tariffs . It’s not money flowing in from outside as he keeps saying . India sacrificed a lot to get freedom from British so it’s not going to allow America to dominate India again . This is a strategic blunder by America and the result of this would be global isolation of USA and accelerated dedollarizaton and what America fears most the RIC - Russia. India and China coming together which is happening now which no one thought will happen . So yes he deserves the Nobel peace prize for making India and China coming together .

After which Taco Trump, putting his ego above the national interest of America, threatened to tariff his friendly country India

India uses Russian crude to refine it and sell it around the world.  The biggest buyer of Russian crude are the Saudis.  If Trump really cared about Ukraine, he would put tariffs on SA but he wont.  The question is why?  Besides the fact  the Saudis are highly involved in Trump family business, the Saudis are doing the same thing India is doing with Russian crude and imo the Saudis asked Trump to tariff India so counties will buy from  them vs India.

Actually, India never imported oil from Russia until EU and USA pushed us out of decades old supply chains of Mid East,  USA advised india to buy Russian oil at capped price so that barrel price won't reach 200 dollar. India had to change refineries to suite Russia Ural oil. Then they want to stop pissing us of.

If US doesn't wanna buy our/India/world Products then what makes them think we would need to Buy their Dollar for. If we dont have to trade with US then rest of the world will find another currency. So far in BRICS india was one few countries that was not opposing dollar but Now Trump has made India pushed into that corner.

This baffoon still seem to think that tariff directly punish exporter country which is mind-boggling. "Do what I say or I will tax Americans".. What the actual f... As Canadian we really need to simply take the hit of reduced demand and not fight it, not reciprocate, just find internal customers or export elsewhere. Remember people, this guy doesn't even drink!

One of the most ignored problems that nobody is talking about is that many of the main US exports themselves depend on the imports of several raw and intermediary materials ... so in a way ... tariffs on their imports will make their exports automatically costly ... soon they will realise it in about 6 months to 1 year.

That last 40% will surely be destroyed through tariffs and the middle 30% will slowly diminish because of that , which in turn will make the first 30% to become totally unsustainable.

When Trump imposes a 50% tariff, not only will Americans have to pay the 50% tariff on imported goods, they will also have to pay 50% more sales tax, If this is not bad enough american made products will also go up in price because american producers can charge 30% and still get all the business. The higher the tariff, the higher the price for both imported and domestic products, and the higher the rate of inflation..  So Trump gets the tariffs, businesses get higher profits, and the consumers get screwed.

When the USA seeks to source goods they previously bought from India, the countries they approach will know they can pitch their price slightly lower than the Indian price plus tariff. So, something they paid $100 before the 50% tariff would now cost $150. So the new provider can pitch their price at say $140, knowing the USA has no choice. Why wouldn’t they? So it’ll be $40 higher than it was before.

Indian GDP is around 4500 billion and US tax affects 45 billion only, so its around 1% only.
Medicine mobile are the balance export items to USA, those are not taxed.
Affects only 0.2% of economic growth. And India can find markets for those within 6 months

Europe is still buying Russian energy heavily after the war more than India and infact it is still trading in big numbers with Russia. What you said isn't correct, and that's the hypocrisy of it all. Although, I agree with the rest of the stuff you said, those are bang on!

EU and rest of world sanctioned Russian crude oil but allowed and encouraged India to buy it and distribute the refined oil back to EU and world so as to stabilize the world energy price. It's usual hypocrisy of EU and US to say that India buying Russian oil is fueling its war effort. If any other nation is ready to provide oil at that price point then India is ready to diversify. They have made sure to sanction all other oil sources like Iran and Venezuela. They purchase oil from the middle east at a price point where developing nations like India cannot afford it. China buys more Russian oil and actively engages in supporting Russia war efforts but US+EU cannot bully China. This is less of stopping Russia Ukraine war and more of breaking Indian economy by destroying the agro and dairy sectors which India doesn't allow.

The one thing you did not mention is that if this goes on long term which seems likely that in the future for the US they will not be able to go back to buying what they do today. In short no matter what happens even if tariffs were cut tomorrow the damage is already done and some of it is permenant. As an example Canada response post tariff removal oops we are now selling our steel to India. You have to go shop around somewhere else.

I dont think this is punishment for India. Taxes are on Indian textile, Fruits and Jewelry industry mainly. India itself is an importer of all 3 of them. The exporters will take a bit of time to find new market but it is 100% recoverable. Thats why Indian stock market rise both days tax were announced.
