It has become fashionable to blame Punjabis and Haryanvis for the racism in the West, and we can also see the inferiority complex on this subreddit. But, in my short stint abroad, I have noticed the ones we see on social media are a small minority, and most keep their heads down and work. Obviously, there are problematic elements in the West, and they need to be called out.

But, the goras are equally annoyed, if not more, by the random garbas and chhat pooja celebration, since those are not their festivals too, as pointed out by another user, or the scamming done by gujjus, if you open TikTok there are millions of views on the gujju gold smuggler video or the recent target employee theft video. We just don't have the same cultural capital to defend ourselves.

Also not to say that I support caste stickers on cars, but if you work for an IT compnay and you see the systematic telegu representation or how the south indian brahmin lobbying works, this will seem the smallest of problems, they often hire incompetent people from their caste groups from the randomest colleges in the US, and there are consultanices back hoe which pad their resumes and they are actually skillless. The US has an uneasy history of slavery, and if you ever meet the brahims/ iyer/ and iyenger lobby, you will understand why the whites have issues with how indians talk about other indians. This is what the post that the OP has posted is about. Most of them do not even accept food not cooked by their brethren.

Maybe it's easier to hate on Haryana because we speak Hindi, and it's understood by a large majority of people and our proximity with Delhi, and obviously our proximity to Delhi puts a media glare.

And lord knows that we have lots of problems in our society and we are the first ones to accept it and work unlike our subs, but one of the red lines in west is not to treat other humans in a way that subjugates certain people to certain task (even if they are internally racist, talking about it is a whole different thing, the world is not what you see on twitter) and this is not primarily haryanvis ka doing.

So many reasons. Online thing is different, on the name of dark humour people are just being racist, but there are uncountable incidents where we have done something that we deserve. There is a sub named slumlords canada, visit, you’ll definitely figure out which one is from Indian landlord, search Dundas square and you’ll find Haryanvi, Punjabi dancing on streets, sometimes forcing other people to dance, which can come off as harassment. Then look for Westwood plaza diwali and you’ll find so called “Khalistani vs Hindustani” showing off their power by revving cars to the max, loud music without considering that it’s not a Canadian festival, people are going to work tomorrow, burning firecrackers and leaving everything in that plaza. These are not even tip of ice berg, respect the culture and people you are trying to assimilate in, let’s try not to force “out things” on people unless they want to experience.

But yes Indian tourist receive lot of hate from people working in tourism because of our behaviour. Specially from group tours. Individual tourists or couples are still respected.

It's very simple. He may require a cook for a special occasion. A brahman would know about rituals followed by brahmans, cutting the hassle to explain every single thing to the cook. And dude, you don't understand the hatred and level of insecurities people have against people of brahman community who are less than 1% of the population. Who knows of even 1%.

Help me understand what is wrong here - he is asking cooks from a specific region and a specific community. The cooking style of each people are different. Brahmins/Iyengars are mostly vegetarians. As a vegetarian, wouldnt one prefer to have it cooked by someone who is vegetarian?

What is casteist about this? If I ask for south indian cook, would that be regionalism?

Even meat eaters can cook vegetarian food and of a style of a certain community . This is just casteism through and through. No other explanation.
