Saudi Visiting China Soon — What’s the Vibe Toward Us

So my question is: How are Saudis generally viewed in China — whether culturally, socially, or politically? Feel free to share any insights or personal experiences, whether it's a general impression or something more specific. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Edit: This post is for knowledge and amusement please don't take anything read so seriously and please avoid racism to other nationalities.

Assalamualaikum. All I want to say is...have fun lol.To me you guys are cool and rich .BTW If you ever visit Guangzhou, don't forget to stop by at 光塔寺, AKA Masjid Huaisheng. This is the OLDEST mosque in China with a history of 1300 years. ⏤ by Fc1145141919810(14
That sounds extremely interesting I will add it to my itinerary. I googled it and it looks absolutely
That is as old as Islam, the timeline sounds.... unlikely lol ⏤ by MmmIceCreamSoBAD
Arabs were already actively trading with China at the time of Muhammad and there were Muslims in China [within a few decades of the start of Islam]. Guangzhou was a major port and one of the most prominent trading posts. The dating of the this mosque is "legendary" and the exact establishment is debated, but Islam in China is pretty much "as old as Islam". ⏤ by blorg(3
I realize they were trading and official contact between China and the Muslim world was a few decades after Muhammad (PBUH) died. But Muhammad (PBUH) was alive 1400 years ago. Saying a mosque in China is >1300 years old is.... unlikely, to say the least. Muslim communities formed over the next 150-200 years but saying 1300 years is quite specific. The timeline just doesn't make sense to me, I doubt there were enough Muslims to be building a mosque that would have withstood the test of time in China over 1300 years ago. Especially since so little historical buildings have survived at all in China since they built out of wood and had lots of wars where cities were burned to the ground constantly.Like that would be a top 10 oldest mosque still in use. In China of all places? Like itd be nice if it was true but I just doubt it, historically speaking. ⏤ by MmmIceCreamSoBAD
As a rule, stuff that is "1,300 years old" in China doesn't mean the actual physical building is 1,300 years old, or exactly as it was then, but that there was a historical building there which it has continuity with. Buildings are continually maintained and renovated. This particular mosque was rebuilt in 1350 then again in 1695 after being destroyed in a fire, and the prayer hall in 1935, so the building isn't 1,300 years old.1,300 years is a "legendary" date, it is possible it dates to a few centuries later. The Great Mosque of Guangzhou, known also as Huaisheng Mosque (Memorial of the Holy Prophet) or the Guangta Mosque (Light Tower Mosque), is thought to be the earliest surviving mosque in China and has the earliest freestanding minaret in China. Manuscxts from 1206 claim that the mosque was built by an uncle of the Prophet, Abi Waqqas, on the first Muslim mission to China in the 630s. However, it is more certain that a mosque was first built here during the Tang Dynasty, or in the early years of the Song Dynasty. The mosque was entirely rebuilt in 1350 during the Yuan dynasty under the rule of Zhizheng (1341-1368), and rebuilt again in 1695 under Emperor Kangzi of the Qing dynasty, after being destroyed in a fire.⏤ by blorg
That would make more sense. I realize for some stuff this old it's a 'claim' or that there's the paradox of the ship (if you replace every plank over time is it the same ship?).I'm sure it's historically significant I'm just saying 1300 years (even if the building has been replaced multiple times) would make it VERY old in the context of Islamic history. Like decades off from the black mosque in Mecca you see Muslims doing the Hajj around (that Muhammad PBUH himself lived in) . ⏤ by MmmIceCreamSoBAD(2
I honestly don't want to be mean but...when we Tang Dynasty Chinese were trading with Arab Muslims, what were you medi Europeans even doing? I don't think it is appropriate for you to question the histories of the two great civilizations. Sorry bud. I was trying to be polite but I feel like I have to let it out. ⏤ by Fc1145141919810(3
You are very rude, blocked.I'm not questioning any civilization I'm questioning the history of a single building. ⏤ by MmmIceCreamSoBAD(-2
Bro...have you ever heard of the Maritime Silk Road? Do you know how many Arab Muslims stayed in Guangzhou during Tang Dynasty? It’s one of the oldest mosques in China, built by Arab traders and travellers along the Maritime Silk Road. The mosque’s iconic minaret even served as a lighthouse for Persian & Arab ships. Chinese records such as the Old Book of Tang, Guangzhou Chronicles, and the diaries of Muslim travellers (Sulayman’s Voyage, 851 AD) also confirm its existence. Even UNESCO recognizes its significance. Denying its age is like denying Rome’s Colosseum was built by the Romans... it's just embarrassingly wrong.Edit: oh and this one too Hugh R. Clark "Muslims and Hindus in the Culture and Morphology of Quanzhou from the Tenth to the Thirteenth Century" ⏤ by Fc1145141919810(2

If you ask the average Chinese person, they'd probably say "Rich people, filthy rich..." and also, hardcore Muslims. Though most regular folks don't understand the difference between Sunnis and Shias - I'm not googling it right now but I think Saudi is Sunni? If you ask people who are into politics and history, they'd mention the war over a thousand years ago where China lost Central Asia. But relations have been peaceful ever since. ⏤ by Sorry_Sort6059(8
Arabs didn't hold that long in Central Asia either. The Tibetans took over followed by the Turkic folks.

People can't tell nationalities, so depending on how you look, they may think you are Arab, Indian, Persian, or even White. In big cities, people may give you a look or two, but generally, no one will care much. People could even come up and help you without being asked (that'll depend on your luck though). In smaller cities, you'll be the centre of attention, but most people don't go to small Chinese cities when visiting China. ⏤ by Putrid_Line_1027(5

In my view, Saudi Arabia is a stable and long-term partner, that's it. In the Middle East, Saudi Arabia seems to be the most worthwhile country to do business with. When China was poor, we completed an arms order, and the money from Saudi Arabia helped our country's development. As a Chinese, the only thing I am curious about is the education method within the Saudi royal family. Many Saudi crown princes seem to be more shrewd and full of wisdom, but as we all know, money breeds laziness, which does not seem to work in Saudi Arabia. ⏤ by SeniorTomatillo7669
