Major medical breakthroughs in China

Over the past few years, China has been making major strides in the field of medicine. In just the last year, independent teams have managed to reverse both diabetes and autoimmune diseases.
The drug industry has spent months going along with the Trump administration’s efforts to move manufacturing and investment into the U.S., and to disentangle the U.S. and Chinese economies. A long list of big pharmaceutical firms have committed tens of billions of dollars to factories and research facilities in the U.S.
In the past few months, though, U.S. pharma companies have simultaneously supercharged their interest in China-based biotechs, announcing what are likely to be the biggest deals ever for the rights to experimental medicines invented by Chinese companies

A great achievement for China and perhaps to the entire world of medicine.

There is 27 books out there on what the Chinese invented first... That says the Chinese did share... We just claimed them as our own inventions

india have a bunch of cheap grifter billionaire. Not one will focus on innovation and research. It's all about, how can I increase my profit margin at all cost. Human lives are dirt cheap in India which benefits the privilege top 10% of 1.4 billion people.

India has done tremendous advancement in the medical field. So don't bash India unnecessarily.

Thank you, that is great news indeed. I am delighted that finally there are countries independant from the influence of big business whose goal has nothing or very little to do with health.
@carolinematta5764
No surprise that medical advances should come from China, or India. Both countries have the thousands’ of years of medical tradition with Chinese Medicine (and India - Ayurveda). Wonderful to see these advances coming from China which will benefit medicine in the whole world.
@cinll5
Every time something groundbreaking comes out of China, there's this immediate wave of doubt from Western media. Why not focus on the data and results instead of where the scientists are from? Progress is progress.
@fji852
This is exactly why science should be global and apolitical. Whether it's China, India, the US, or anywhere else, the goal should be curing disease, not claiming credit. I just hope this doesn’t get buried in some political drama.

@hgoagn
Honestly, it’s kind of amazing how fast China’s pharmaceutical industry is evolving. A few years back, most people only thought of China as a generics producer — now they’re producing first-in-class drugs, pioneering cell therapies, and even pushing the boundaries in AI-driven drug discovery. It’s like they jumped 10 years ahead in 3. Big props to the scientists, but also to the government for putting serious money into R&D.

People don’t realize this, but a lot of cutting-edge trials today — like CAR-T therapies, mRNA vaccines, or rare disease treatments — are coming out of Chinese biotechs. They’re not just copying anymore, they’re innovating at full speed. If things keep going this way, we might soon see major global drugs with "Made in China" labels being used worldwide, not just in Asia.
@cai78
It’s wild how much China has shifted in the pharma game. Ten years ago, they were barely a blip on the global innovation radar, but now they have IPOs of biotech startups every month, huge industrial parks for life sciences, and partnerships with global giants. And you can’t ignore how fast their clinical pipelines are growing — oncology, immunology, even gene editing, they’re doing it all.
@Brajgamer
What else can we do. Our Rishis must have solved this thousands of years ago.
@tort
China’s approach to biotech is ruthless but effective. Fast-track approvals, strong policy support, generous funding, and a massive domestic patient base to test and refine therapies — it’s like a perfect storm for medical innovation. Sure, there's still skepticism about transparency, but some of their recent data in oncology trials have been rock solid. The West should probably pay attention, not just criticize.

Many pleuripotent stem cell based transplants lead to cancers. Though this news is great!
But papers from China are to be taken with a bit of salt because of secrecy around them.
I hope they’ve got solutions to avoid these cells becoming cancerous down the line. That would mean a great deal not just for diabetes but a lot of other pleuripotent stem cell based treatments too.
All the best to them. Hope we see better peer reviews soon.

Commentators should refrain from making antagonistic statements that create animosity between India and China. Let's promote peace and understanding and cooperation. Both are praiseworthy ancient civilizations .

Here recently a minister said ....we can cure BP by rubbing hands on animals and cancer by laying down there where these animals are kept.
@PahatRout
For sure , if whatever medicine is formulated in China is effective, the pharma-industry in the US will band it, just like the EV industry. Maybe such policy should be taken advantage of by China, just offer them a medical-cum- tour package; to counter such ban if indeed it happens.
@Emotion-3642
China always had ability to be number one in medical, they are natural in it and thats the one thing that i believe
they capable and good at but instead the choose to be military path over some spaces which could bring their downfall .
@ncia1987
The most impressive thing to me is how Chinese pharma companies are starting to go global — not just exporting products, but setting up labs overseas, filing international patents, and even getting FDA fast-track status. That’s a huge leap from where they were even five years ago. If they can combine that scientific momentum with consistent global standards, they’ll be a biotech powerhouse before anyone realizes.
@michaelbenton2518
What if in the west the drugs companies want to sell to make money for the greed of the shareholders and may have solutions but will make them little return.
@Parasuraman-ey4wo
I do not know how much of this is true, but China both scares me and fascinates me.
No question that they are great with great potentially, like India is.
Hope they are on the side if good. I do not know for sure, though they are not reckless but very smart, not involving themselves in unwinnable wars, which makes them most scary and dangerous.
I repeat, I want them on the side of good, and do good to humanity.
@michaeldaruwalla8717
The pharmaceutical lobby has been a great impediment to medical progress. Monetary profit had put a cap on medical progress.

Chinese has been unable to successfully market its treatments or drugs internationally
@phgao
It’s funny how the West is always quick to dismiss anything from China until suddenly it works, and then they act like they invented it. Let’s be real, if this breakthrough was from the US, it would be all over the news as “the next medical revolution.”
@qpgn15
People need to stop comparing India and China like it's a cricket match. Both countries have smart people, both have issues. But let’s be honest: China invests way more in science and tech while India’s leaders are too busy debating cow science.
@aviaf
You know what’s sad? In some countries, scientists are pushing the boundaries of genetic medicine, and in others, politicians are still talking about curing cancer by chanting mantras. How are we ever gonna compete globally with that mindset?
@duo85
I don’t know if this stem cell thing is 100% safe yet, but if it really leads to a functional cure for diabetes, then this is Nobel Prize territory. Just hope pharma companies don’t kill it off because it’s not “profitable enough.”
@dorodense
Stem cell treatment is now prent in India too. In fact quite a few health issues can be overcome with Stem Cell treatment. This is not specific only to China!

@goaag51
Honestly, if this is real and China really found a way to treat or even cure diabetes, then hats off to them. I don't care what country it comes from—as someone with a diabetic parent, this is the kind of news that gives you hope. Politics aside, people just want their loved ones healthy.
@premsadanand1563
We Indians should introspect why not even 1 innovation comes from India What a shame Every one is happy speaking English and acting western Chinese with little English knowledge are working wonders
@tmoautotwo3285
Sounds like a lot of buzz words ..let them publish and open the results for independent uation. Don trust Chinese with any honest reporting..
@wganga
It's kind of crazy that people are so quick to distrust China, even when it’s about medical science. Like yeah, transparency matters, but let’s not pretend Western companies haven’t hidden bad drug data before too. Let the results speak.
@ihuag41
This news made me think—imagine a future where diseases like diabetes and maybe even cancer are not a lifetime sentence anymore. If China’s leading that charge, then good on them. The rest of the world better step up their game.
@mangoesboy
Meanwhile, India is slowly digging its own grave by becoming overtly religious in all aspects of life, esp in politics. The outcome is, it has led to reduction of rational and scientific thoughts. Interfering with any rational ans scientific work which goes against religious tenets. Because of these, we are seeing the growth of many businesses of babaji, spiritual guru who are spreading psuedo science in the name of spirituality, while foolinh people. Even god will not save this nation, if it continues like this.
@baswantrao
Major breakthroughs! You need money and China gave it. This is called soft skills of China (to pay money to you). There are many big medical breakthroughs happening all over the world including India, but you don't get money to highlight them
