I'm a British Citizen who married a Non-EU Citizen. Currently, my wife and I have to fork out a total of around £10k over 5 years to the government and she has no right to any free benefits, despite paying into the NHS in both lumps sums and in the usual payments (she's working) she gets as much or less help from the NHS as anyone else, nurses and doctors tend to assume she's sponging and treat her differently (they watch this kind of news). I'm convinced the government are utterly greedy and absolutely racist and they want to extend it to 10 years because they see how much money legal immigration is making them.

Set up safe routes so that there is no longer the market for criminal gangs, by all means send failed applicants to the most appropriate places. I feel like it’s an island of strangers because the views of politicians are so devastatingly out of touch with the people they’re supposed to be representing. These policies belong in the 1930’s, along with the foul dehumanising rhetoric in public debate overall.

Maybe she needs to look at g4s who are known for recruiting  immigrants and who the government gave the contract to for all the job centres throughout the country with each job centre having around 8 guards multiply that by how many job centres there are and that's a lot of taxpayers money which could be spent dealing with real world issues.

So the main issue of UK was “illegal” immigration and load on Uk to support these illegal migrants by providing them free accommodation and services which is taken from tax payers money.
To tackle that, the govt has put restrictions on “legal” migrants who were contributing to the Uk economy and major tax payers..
which means by cutting them off, the load of paying for freeloaders like illegal migrants will be uk citizens solely.
This govt to show it’s doing something is targeting soft targets like student visa, pr etc without tackling the actual issue of illegal migrabts.
Hope the UK citizens are clever enough to understand this. And don’t fall for these stupid restrictions on “legal” migrates who are actually contributing to economy .

I have come as a nurse working in the NHS in February 2023 and I have been working very hard, paying rent, paying taxes and contributing to society and NHS. It is so unfair that ILR now has been extended to 10 years. I think The government should respect legal immigrants who come with skills, language proficiency and degrees and also work hard to serve the country.

The official figure of how many migrants are here on benefits in the UK politicians admitted to is 1,000,000 migrants on benefits in the UK. Every one of them gets a standard Universal Credit payment of £98 per week and that means £98million is being spent every day on migrants benefit money. That amounts to £35.7 billion per year. That doesn't take into account housing benefit too, if a quarter of them are getting housing benefit too that's a further £2.281 billion per year. So legal migrants living in the UK on benefits are costing a MINIMUM of £37.981 billion per year of taxpayer money to pay all their benefit money. That doesn't even take into account any migrants getting disability benefits or child benefit so mass migration cannot continue forever like politicians seemingly have shown us they want it to be.
