The woman's death comes amid rumors circulating online about a possible New England serial killer following the deaths of seven and now eight people, mostly women, between March and April in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. As of Friday, authorities have not announced any kind of connection between the eight victims' deaths.

It is unclear how the woman in Springfield died, and the local medical examiner is conducting an autopsy, but Hamden County DA Anthony Gulluni said his office is thoroughly investigating each act of violence in the Springfield community.

The eerie rumors began circulating on a Facebook group called "New England Serial Killer," which has since changed its name due to Facebook rules and regulations. Over the last two months, human remains have been located in New Haven, Norwalk, Groton and Killingly, Connecticut; Foster, Rhode Island; and Framingham, Plymouth and now Springfield, Massachusetts. Some social media users say these discoveries of human remains — particularly, female remains — across the three neighboring states may indicate a serial killer.

But Connecticut State Police told Fox News Digital last week that "there is no information at this time suggesting any connection to similar remains discoveries, and there is also no known threat to the public at this time," regarding the deaths in Connecticut.

Same kind of thing happened in Austin, TX a couple of years ago. Sounds like the same story including the denial by the authorities.
Also in Portland, OR a couple of years ago. Five young women were found deceased around the Portland area and the police downplayed a serial killer theory. Finally, they had to admit they were wrong.
The authorities will of course always deny it. Frankly, they should, up until there's a clear commonality to the killings.
Then there are cities like chicago, st. louis, detroit, baltimore, wAsh D.c. that don't even bother to count the killings anymore.
Yeah too many Town Lake bodies to be a coincidence.
Reminds me of the Scranton Strangler. Perhaps they should get Dwight Schrutt on the case.
The Libs don’t believe in law enforcement. Rampant crime, illegals and sanctuary status could be prime breeding ground for a serial killer…
One of the New England Serial Killer Facebook group is the culprit?
social media's role in spreading misinformation and unverified claims, which "can compromise active investigations and contribute to a sense of chaos that does not reflect the full picture." How can it be "misinformation" and also "compromise active investigations"? If it's true misinformation, then it wouldn't compromise an active investigation. That "misinformation" statement is usually a Dem line to put people off from the truth.
Recall a short time ago, democrats marched by the thousands to end funding for all police, why the sudden rapid change?
Republican led cities don’t need as much funding because there is far less crime in those cities. Crime is about the people that live in an area. If a Republican was elected we know the people of that community are much more stable, family oriented, do less drugs, and treat other humans and their property with respect.
Because they realized that sometimes, common sense works?
Nah, it's because mid-terms are right around the corner and this is a bad look for getting reelected.
Democrats only support defunding the police until crime starts affecting their voters. Which it has. Now they’re all in on arresting everyone. Including their critics, obviously.
No. Thousands of paid protesters were paid by Democrats to create another Democrat facade...
democrats only act when it DIRECTLY AFFECTS THEM. Otherwise it's virtue signaling and the 'cause of the day'
This seems like democrats acted? Under President Biden, police funding has generally increased. For example, his 2023 budget proposal allocated $32 billion to combat crime, with significant portions directed toward law enforcement

And when Trump acts in ends up directly screwing people, so it appears both side have issues
He speaks facts, you don't.

Because they suddenly they wake of to the fact that those who live in middle class and upper middle class communities are not immune to crime. Always happens that way when it shows up on their doorstep..
Because what you're saying didn't happen. Defunding as a concept is very different than "end all funding".
LOL. Some PDs were closed and every officer fired. Don't lie to us here. This isn't CNN or MSNBC. BTW NYC cut their police budget be 1 Billion dollars. LA county cut 500 million etc etc.
Who says they changed?
Yeah, it's not like they suddenly became smart...

remember that democrat controlled cities provide more funding to the police than republican led cities?
I do not rememenber that at all. In fact it's a lie.
That's a lie. Source it with REAL statistics.
It's DEEP BLUE country... I'm rooting for the serial killer.

Absolutely no democrats suggested ending all funding for the police. That’s complete hyperbole…
“The Minneapolis Police Department has proven themselves beyond reform. It’s time to disband them and reimagine public safety in Minneapolis.” -Ilhan Omar, D-Minnesota 2020.
Sounds made up.
Sounds true. The Luvvy dubby of these “liberal” havens have something all in common. Soft on crime. Can’t defend yourself (restrictions on guns), become a victim and officials look the other way.
I don't know. I'll find an article on that subject and get back to you.
Defunding the police was stupid. Ending police brutality was real. Two things can be true at the same time.

For those of us who live in New England and have wives and daughters it might be nice to have some details so we can be vigilant in keeping an eye out for this nut case.
To begin with, you might avoid walking or jogging alone. Avoid wooded areas. Travel in pairs. Wear clothes that don't reveal your entire body (as in jogging body suits). Tell someone where you are going and when you will be back.
This is great advice. I live in NH, and I've seen some young women walking or running on some very sketchy trails that even I (a grown, moderately fit man) wouldn't walk alone unarmed.

Being alone outdoors is probably the greatest risk. Even if you were carrying one of those tracking apps, all it would do is help police find your body sooner. If you carry a gun, also make sure you know how to have it ready to shoot before someone jumps you. For example, round in the chamber, safety off, pistol in hand in a hoodie pocket or jacket pocket if someone is approaching you. Less than that, probably not worth doing.
