Interconnectivity and logistics alone are tough enough to consider. If you look at a grander scale, the frxwork is closer to Indonesia than Vietnam. Our key cities are rapidly developing as well. There is Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, and CDO, but I truly believe there is more that we can do. Vietnam's North to South development strategy is successful for the absence of the archipelagic hurdle. I really love that every time the PH economy gets mentioned, the middle class and ups magically become Chinese. Like, what the hell? Yes, there are middle Chinese but they are a fraction of the population. It’s just that the middle-class Chinese are more vocal and extravagant in doing their shit compared to the native one's middle-class Malay-Filipino. These people still interact with the low income while the Chinese ones look down on them. (I saw a housing villa owner always sitting on a sidewalk talking to a garbage collector in my community once). Ps: There are also low-income Filipino-Chinese, and they are the most down-to-earth people you'll ever encounter.

Instead, development is spread out across the whole country, making sure that whatever increase in income can be felt by the whole nation. With the Philippines, on the other hand, our development is so centralized in the main region of Metro Manila that other regions are basically left to fend for themselves. Although some regions like Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, etc. are catching up, it still took a ton of years to do so and their current level of development isn't still on par with the ones in Metro Manila. You will feel and see the income disparity so much that it's baffling. High hopes though, on a positive note. Both governments are very aggressive in trying to address what they need to address.
