New York and California influenced the decision by my husband and myself to live in a rural area on 23 acres that even includes a lake. There is a "town" of 2,500 about 12 miles from here, and two miles beyond that a town of 3,500. Between the two of them they have most of the fast-food restaurants, churches, a Walmart, and a hospital with a very nice surgical center and physical therapy facility. Twenty-three miles from here is a town of 60,000 and it has everything to meet our needs. I will never again live in a city. I like not seeing used needles and fresh excrement (human) when I go for a walk. I've never been punched in the face by a stranger nor have I had my purse grabbed. It might not suit everyone but I love my life here.

We lived in a big city for a long time and this was before everything got so bad. When our 2 children were young teens, we saw how many changes were happening and they were not for the best. We moved 100 miles away to a rural area and live close to a very nice lake, a small shopping area about 15 miles away, and a larger area less than 40 miles away. The culture here is very conservative and life is centered around church, family, and school. We love it and are so glad we made the decision to move. We may have given up a few conveniences but life here has been so much better. We have never regretted our move!
