For those interested in this concept, look at Habitat 67 in Montreal, Canada, designed by Moshe Sofdie for the Worlds Fair in 1967. It is far smaller than this complex, but the concept is quite similar.

I don't know about u folks but the whole thing has lifted my heart. The coldness, the concrete, the small size of the apartments, the scale. humanization erased in a functional and productive society where only profit counts. This building is sick and drags its residents into this darkness.
I would love to see a similar scale in Singapore to compare and see what make those building livable.
Thanks for your work on this channel. I really love the concept. Keep it up!!
This is a concrete jungle. Not a tree, a shrub, a flower or grass in sight. No birds chirping or flying about. No sight of children playing. Lots of empty stores and echoes. It's impersonal and anonymous. Places like this soon become rundown and neglected.
Thanks for showing us! When was this built? Alot of the plaster, paint, edges are cracking and crumbling…terrible build quality especially if it’s recently built... is it tofu dreg?

Dude, thank you so much for the walking video footage and I really appreciate the frankness in your descxtion about some of the building’s issues. For the sake of the families living there, I hope these issues won’t be catastrophic and somehow, someway these people can eke out happy lives there.
This concept and architectural style is suited for areas with great natural scenery like beach resorts or mountain getaways so the occupants can take in all the surrounding natural beauty.
Would have Liked to see more of the inside on an . You were pretty quick with that part. Most of the “living” there. Would love to see the kitchen, bathroom etc. Just a thought.
I like the architecture and efficient design. The blend of commercial and residential is efficient and provides living needs in walking distance. It has character. It does seem to have a little bit of minimalism/brutalism design in some areas, but not a bad thing just efficient oriented. Seems like there would be good energy in a residential complex like this. The walk-through reminds me of playing a game like Halo in a dystopian city. Unfortunately, this particular complex has signs of tofu-dreg construction.
It's very unique. May I ask where are all the people? It looks as if it was made for thousands of people to shop, eat, & live in, but it looks like a ghost town. This is so sad.... I really would have liked to have seen some of the apartments along with the kitchens. Thank you for sharing this. I find it wonderfully interesting to see how people in other places live.
Idk why but ever since I visited this resort in Spain I've loved the idea of these massive, arcology-like, pyramid structures. I wish we had more architectural experimentation here in the UK. Terraced houses, for all their positives, do get a bit uninspiring after a while.
Architecturally, this maximizes natural sunlight for the same building footprint. The elevators are not inclined and are in the interior walkways that brings everything together ... brilliant ideas.
It's a really cool idea! Imagine it with a fresh coat of paint, green landscaping and a pool below, and plants, grills and personalized adornments on each balcony. In the apartments, the blocky looking low walls framing the stairs to the second floor would be opened up with railings.
architecturally it’s very unique and provides much for the residents… I would really like to see natural plants and greenery all throughout it though… it’s feeling just a bit too sterile as is.. the soft neutrals, greys, white and beiges provide an excellent canvass for plants….. greenery and flowers, trees, etc. would soften it and nurture the souls.. maybe several water sculptures placed around the mezzanines also, to, again, engage the senses and break up the monotony of all the concrete..
This is reminiscent of the brutalist architecture of the Barbican in a very 21st-century way. Also, seeing upside down houses is pretty trippy. I get why giving people outdoor spaces so important and why the design had to take place the way it did. I love outdoor spaces more than interiors. I’m so glad I fell upon your video
I can see how the apartments on the outside have privacy with more windows and a substantial outside space, but I don't understand about the lower floors. Are those apartments simply much deeper or is there an interior atrium?
Nice concept. Could be improved. Slope buildings offer more air space between buildings.
They need skylight mirror tubes in the center of the pyramid !
Internal parts of the pyramid should be all offices and businesses , social spaces, noone should live permanently on the inside apartment.
Terraces need privacy blinds for private spaces. Those offer community IF you know the neighbors. Some hill villages have those.
The quality of this bad bad BAD imitation of Habitat 67 is horrifying. Shoddy construction, cheap materials poorly installed, hideous color palette, zero maintenance of the concrete, there are cracks and water leaks everywhere on both exterior walls and inside the apartment shown. And then there are the failed, empty storefronts and painted over graffiti. UGH.....I love modern architecture but this is a dystopian nightmare.
The design is actually interesting. The buildings have the potential to house thousands of people but most of the buildings are empty because the apartments are expensive. Because there are no people, the stores are empty, no demand for consumption. China has a lot of newly built ghost towns like this one.

The only blaring problem that I see with this is the lack of green... Even if they strategically did some placement of trees and color it would make all the difference
This looks very old, and in a terrible state, no maintenance, very rusty and dirt. The walls are cracked. We know that Chinese are not a clean people, but this looks abandoned.
I like the style but not when is no privacy to my balcony. That area missing a lot of green is to much concrete. Needs water, benches, is very boring on first floor but i like that it had a supermarket,.
Is this one of China's Ghost Cities? For country of over a Billion people, I only counted maybe 30 people walking around this complex, no cars on the street. No noise. Just no life at all. I really enjoyed the concept of this video and the Pyramid apartment.

It’s a interesting concept. It would hold a big population but when you consider the structural aspects then add all the people who live there plus furniture etc the weight would take a toll. I actually like the inside of the apts but I think your privacy would be invaded with those balconies.
I think this kind of structure design is much safer living above than a single tall building under earthquake. A single tall building risk of collapsed, where as this type of structures with its strong foundational base make it hard to shake under earthquake i think.
Command economies produce what no one thought to ask for. All these resources to build an innovative system that that has so much designed-in but success.
Mold, cracks, exposed wires, through moldy walls, cracked paving and vacancy everywhere.
The pet stores, abandoned because no pets are allowed in the condos for miles around, aaah...
So big Balconies, and even Community Balconies! Why they dont put at least one huge Flowerpot with a Tree in IT to every of them? Birthday, Party on the big balconies, because of the small flat. So nice idea! But really needs colors. Every floor an other color, or even pictures theme. So mich place for new/little artists, Who would like to paint/Design IT, only by given the coloring materials I think.....
The idea is good and better than the normal residential towers, but the ghetto effect is already apparent. I just see an incredible number of construction defects for a building that is not so old.
This would not be a bad idea if it was smaller but they just put on like they didn't have a care in the world and this would be a dog gone delivery persons or emergency personnels nightmare I know space is out of prima but this is ridiculous. You would need a doggone GPS map and all of them just to get around but on a good note it looks like the balconies have spacious space for a one condos studio。
Finally, China is the first nation that has entered the future! Salute to the Chinese superhero government. I wish that our Indian government and leaders could undertake initiatives like this, but the people of India face unfortunate circumstances." We Are So Unlucky
At timestamp 24:25ish I noticed a cat sitting in a cage, felt sort of sorry for the cat, all alone, just sitting there, in a cage. There are other cages there also, but the fronts are so covered that you cannot see what is inside if anything. Watched again and noticed off to the right of the door are more cages. Tell me these are pets and not something else?
