I think it's fair to say that in terms of attractiveness, I'm punching above my weight with regards my wife. She's very attractive, gets frequent comments from other men, turns heads, and generally impresses people.
I'm a geek. If I turn heads, it's because I'm drunk and being too loud. Not because people want to look at me.
I often wonder how I managed to create such a situation where such an attractiveness disparity happened. I think there is something in the idea that personality counts. When I put my mind to it, I can be tremendously entertaining, and I think my wife enjoys that.
A few years into our marriage, my wife got cancer. As she was going through chemotherapy, all the usual things happened, weight gain (they give you a lot of steroids), hair loss etc. She didn't look her best. If she turned heads, it was to look at the bald woman.

A few years after I was married, an old friend from out of town visited me in my office. He noticed the frxd photograph of my wife.
“Who’s that?” he asked.
“Oh, that’s my wife,” I replied.
He gave me a hard look. “No way a woman that beautiful is your wife. Who is she really?”
It took my partner’s confirmation before he finally believed it.

My mom is good looking, or I guess she used to be. I can see it in our family photos, my dad and my mom are leagues apart (But now that they're mid 50s... my dad is aging better)

There's random Vuittons and Diamond rings she keeps in her drawer. I ask her where she got them and she looks quite proud answering that:
"These stupid guys at the bar bought it for me. Your dad would never buy stuff like this."
Fair enough.
My dad admits that his wife always made more money being a Hostess than he did being a regular office worker. So she got tipped in cash quite well it seems...

My girlfriend is quite attractive, and gets approached by guys in guise of other things. There's the Real Estate dude with too much advice, the Dentist dude who blatantly states how much money he has, the CEO dude who "manages" a lot of "employees". These guys always seem to have so much value to provide to my girlfriend until they find out I exist...

There's something about your girlfriend being miles better looking than any of their wives that earns you unspoken respect. My girlfriend bought me a $1400 designer bag and I carry it around like a badge of honor. Not because it's nice, but because for me it symbolizes the fact that I can keep this beautiful woman happy.

I was into this one since high school. Got together. Convince her to spend a lifetime with me.
And what's it like so far?
Strangers give her all the attention when we're in public. Even the women, whom she speaks with as if they're old pals. She makes friends easily. They compliment her on her hair and everything else. The guys stare a lot even with this 6′4″ tower by her side.
But It doesn't bother me.
