I am going to write this answer anonymous because Quora doesn't like me giving honest answers since most of the users cannot accept the truth and report me.
I am from India and I am a flight attendant.
I am only writing this answer so that my countrymen can learn a bit.
Most of nationalities I fly with dislike flying to India or handle Indian passengers because
We do not follow any rules and when asked to do so we challenge them
We love to drink whisky inflight but do not know when to stop
We are very demanding and believe in paisa vasool sytem (getting every penny worth)
We aren't considerate towards others and at times lack moral values like seen able body gentleman telling female crew to stow their baggage up in the overhead compartment
Some of us don't even know how to use the toilet, the toilets are extremely dirty when flying in and out of the country
We love to stare, not only staring at women but men staring at men too. It's not with any intentions but just don't realize that it's not polite to do so
We love to complain for every single thing. If you didn't get your choice of meal, seats etc just complain and then some staff will make sure that they get it somehow. This seldom happens in other flights since people are more understanding
In business class, they really expect you to even spoon feed their kids just like many maids doing it for them at home
There are plenty of other things that I can mention since I know the culture and also the mentality. This of course isn't true and doesn't hold to everyone of us. Rather it may not be true for majority of us but there are more passengers who behave in this manner than the other nationality so it makes it easier to remember.
Besides this, there are plenty of positives too which I should mention
At times we are easy to handle, as long as the crew can have a sense of humor and can hold up a conversation then the Indian passengers can be extremely easy
We do love to complain but I haven't seen any other nationality who can compliment as much as Indian passengers.
We do expect high service standards because the service industry in india does provide high standards
We are very social people, If you do not want any trouble in flight then you have to make sure to build a rapport with them and it will be the easiest flight ever
There are lot of problems that people from my country give however every nationality come up with their own list. I can say a number of problems caused by Chinese, Russian, European, American or even Japanese at times.
I am sure that this answer will soon be flagged and dexed by Quora moderators, so for the ones who have already read please don't get offended, since it is not to humiliate but educate and apologize in advance if my answer is a bit direct.

Maybe because some of them have no concept of etiquette combined with an overblown sense of self-importance.
Just this week we flew from Delhi back to Canada. You have to go through security just to enter the terminal. While in line to be processed, no less than 4 people tried to jump the line. Security rebuked them and sent them back.
Then in line to check in, some idiot tried to barge in front of my wife. I asked him what he thought he was doing and he claimed he didn’t know we were together. I told him to get to the back of the (Fword) line. All of a sudden he’s bristling with indignation at having been spoke to in such a manner and asked “Should I call the Police?” I laughed and asked what for? Because I called him out for his rude behaviour? He went on and on and on and called over security who laughed as well and said I must be having a bad day. I looked for him on landing to ask him to call the police now but he had snuck off like the rat he was.
On the flight over there was some Gujrati couple who acted like they were the Royalty of Economy and their demands on the flight attendant were endless and trivial. The wife was demanding extra roti and the flight attendant said once everyone is fed and there is any left over she would be happy to get an extra one for the passenger. Of course this wasn’t good enough for them and they huffed and puffed. Later the attendant did bring an extra roti. They not only didn’t thank her but told her it was too late and now they don’t want it.
Honestly some of these people are children.

We have been living in Canada for close to fifty years, during this time I have had quite a few opportunities to travel back to my country of birth(India). I made two trips one after the other, one to China and the other to India.
I would like to say a few things:
1. Asian people are not used to air travel very frequently but with the globalization, there are more Asian travelers now.
2. You see a tremendous amount of backlash against Chinese travelers. I was extremely worried about my trip to China in Chinese airline with almost all Chinese travelers. But today I see the Chinese air travelers quite differently, and I have no fear of traveling with them.
I traveled on a flight from Toronto to Shanghai in which there were about 95 percent Chinese passengers. It was a direct flight; please allow me to say the following:
I am still in awe to see the disciplined passengers, extremely polite and most of them were very educated.
It was mind-boggling that their kids are also very well behaved. Therefore seeing is believing.
Another thing I noticed hardly anyone near my seat asked for alcohol.
I took various domestic flights, within China, and did not see anything abnormal.
Foot Note: I am still in shock, some cities in China have 30 million people such as Chongqing and Shanghai, while Beijing has 15 to 20 million, They have surpassed the upper limits of civic sense. These cities were nothing but showcases. These cities seem to work like a Swiss clock, the police are perceived to a friend and not a terror.
Now here is a summary of my trip to India:
Now coming to our travelers from Toronto to New Delhi, and some joined us in Toronto from Vancouver.
Here some of the things which boggle anyone’s brain:
1. Wheel Chairs: I am very sure there were some genuine cases and they needed wheelchairs. But 85 travelers in one flight is a bit hard to swallow.
In one flight there were 85 travelers who needed wheelchairs
Most of these passengers were elderly, so maybe they all needed wheelchairs. But they seemed perfectly alright in the waiting area, walking, eating and doing all activities just fine.
One flight attendant made a lovely and hushed tone comment, “They have found a loophole for early boarding.”
At New Delhi airport, flight to Toronto via Europe, one could see nothing but a sea of wheelchairs.
The jury is out whether they were all safe wheelchair passengers or some were just misusing the privileges.
2. Drinks.
Incident Number 2
On one occasion, my co-passenger was a very senior lady, she was much older than me, about my mother’s age.
Out of respect for her, I did not order a drink, but I was shocked stunned when she asked for double rum with ice. And blamed it on the aches and pains on her joints that a few doubles with ice soothe the pains.
She did not stop there, she started collecting small wine bottles in her bag.
Making a long story short, she was drunk by the time we landed in Europe. On the same flight, there was a gentleman in his 60s, he was very loud, and passengers were mostly of Indian origin.
He kept on asking for more drinks.
Eventually, a male flight attendant told him that he couldn’t serve him more drinks. He further said that he had already given him much more than he should have.
The passenger still insisted: Head flight attendant/in-charge of the cabin crew came in, and he told the passenger that there would be no more drinks for him.
Obviously, you can imagine the rest of the story.
Here is a funny thing: This guy was bragging his richness in the Vancouver area and beating his chest with bravado, but seemed to be far from the truth. He appeared to be a low-level person with his behavior at that time. Maybe he is successful in his right, but that was how others remember him, an alcoholic looking for free drinks.
Incident Number 3:
Another couple was sitting diagonally from me, they seemed to be in their 50s, the lady did not drink but kept on ordering drinks. Husband keeps on consuming all the drinks. He had bought one bottle of hard liquor at the duty-free, which the custom staff delivers it to you before departure at the gate. He almost finished that bottle as well.
Now, he was a big eater, he kept on asking for more and more food. Eventually, the attendant told him that he had no more. This made him very upset, he started on snacks and then kept hoarding it in his bag.
Incident Number 4.
There was one young man who was sitting in our area, he became distraught because he wanted a parantha( Indian Bread), the flight attendant offered him all kinds of alternates, but he was not ready to accept any of those. Unfortunately, all the paranthas were finished. However, baked European buns did not make him happy, he kept on mumbling for a while.
Incident Number 5.
I fully respect the dietary habits of people, for example, vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The problem starts, and it causes huge fear in the eyes of flight attendants if they serve pork to non-pork consumers by mistake.
Incident Number 6.
This will stay with me forever, this lady told the hostess: Make sure you do not give me pork, it is against my beliefs. No problem, I respect her beliefs. Now here is a kicker, she had no problem guzzling wine/beer/hard liquor in abundance. As far as I know, the same beliefs forbid the consumption of alcohol as well. However, this lady had a pick and choose. Please note that this lady was not vegetarian, a religious restriction was pork, to the best of my knowledge the same religious beliefs also forbid alcohol.
God forbid, for Heaven sake the flight attendant did not make any mistake to serve her pork.
Incident Number 7.
It is a general comment, some of us have seen the European female flight attendants for the first time from such a close distance, our constant stares may not be good manners.
And once the airplane lands in London or the other European airports some us behave as if we have not seen anything of the modern world before this trip. In some cases it is true but people of other nationalities paint all Indians with the same brush.
Incident Number 8.
Most of us never respect civic sense or do not know how to handle garbage or packaging material. I clearly remember I grew up in a very nice neighborhood of Chandigarh until I left that city in the early 70s, we were the original settlers of that city.
There was no organized way of the collection of garbage. All of us in the neighborhood used to dump the garbage in the back alley. Once that mindset is cultivated it is not going to change easily once you land in London/NY/Toronto or anywhere in the world.
I am as guilty as anyone else, we have a general mentality to throw garbage anywhere because we never had organized garbage collection.
Conclusions:
At the end of the flight/journey, I shook my head and admired the patience, goodwill to serve and the extremely polite behavior of the flight attendants.
That day I realized the miserable experiences of the flight attendants. I am sure it doesn’t happen on every flight. And most of us are getting used to air travel and adapting very well.
However, I do not envy such a hard job, no matter how much airlines pay these flight attendants.
Let us admit the fact that we as a nation do not realize that one instance of bad behavior in a flight leaves a very bad impression.

I read many answers where in it is mentioned that most Indians are unruly and generally have poor civic sense.
But it is also important to understand the reasons for such a perception.
The first reason in my opinion is that the airports, air-crafts and the systems and procedure are all designed, built and followed according to western life style and specifications.
For example, practically no Indian uses cutlery at home - they eat with their fingers but the flights are not suitable for such life style as they are not designed with sufficient hand-wash facilities so one is forced awkwardly to eat with cutlery, that too the plastic ones. It is quite difficult. Similarly the toilets in the flights are no where near like the toilets in Indian homes and many Indians, particularly first timers do not even know how to use paper instead of water. When people are forced to do something unnatural for them, they are likely to fumble and make a mess. Indians checking into hotels with higher star ratings have the same dilemma. Where as the westerners feels straight away at home in such facilities because they mimic their regular life style.
But the reality is that even in India, we follow western specifications for flights, hotels and other such facilities, inconveniencing their own people. I cannot imagine the consequence if the westerners are forced to live Indian life style (no cutlery, hard beds, no toilet paper, etc) WITHOUT AN OPTION - perhaps they will make a mess also.
I admire middle eastern countries in this context - they modified the designs and practices to suit their requirements - ALL the public buildings now have a Muslim prayer room + facilities to wash before prayer, all toilets have health faucets, and no body frowns on eating with fingers. In India it is just a copy of the western specification, perhaps to please them and being insensitive to Indians.
2) The second main reason is the lack of civic enforcement in India, which Indians extrapolate to be true everywhere in the world, because they (especially the first timers) have no way of knowing a different way. It starts from the poor education system which does not inculcate discipline, cleanliness and orderliness further aggravated by lack of enforcement by the civic authorities and police. Queue system practically does not exist in India and where it exists, the people in queue stand touching each other and some are trying to beat the system. This also has got to do with the VIP culture - because it gives the message that not everybody needs to follow the system and hence people are trying to find ways to emulate the VIPs.
I, an Indian, first did my overseas travel in 1995, which had many of embarrassments, humiliations and insults - all because I did not understand a different life style which is not mine. I FELT THAT THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS WERE RACISTS AND TRYING TO TROUBLE ME. Over the years. I traveled in over a hundred international flights and now I understand the international (western) facilities - but I still am uncomfortable with them - it is a helpless feeling. But how many Indians get the chance to understand a different lifestyle and even if they do, how many agree to follow - some may disagree and who are we to force them to agree?
As far as lack of discipline (queues, etc) is concerned, it is guilty as charged, but reasons being the poor education, and lack of enforcement.
