Have you changed the way you think about China after visiting?

Oh for sure. My opinions on China took a 180 degrees turn. The real China that I saw with my own eyes was so different from what the media had been portraying for years.
I visited Beijing, China for the first time in 2011 March. From then on I visited about once every 2 to 3 years. It was just a 2-hour flight from South Korea where I used to live.

Yes, absolutely.
Before visiting China, I had a limited understanding of the country and its culture.
But after spending time there and getting to know the people, their customs and traditions, I have gained a much deeper appreciation for Chinese culture.
The hospitality of the locals was truly remarkable - they welcomed me with open arms into their homes and shared stories about their lives that gave me insight into what it's like to live in China today.
It has been an eye-opening experience that has changed my perspective on this amazing country forever!
No, for the most part I didn't, and I will explain you why.
I travelled China by land from far East, Shanghai, to far West, autonomous regions of Sichuan, crossing and stopping by several provinces, and then heading south East again to Hong Kong.
A total of one month, mostly by train and car. I've seen so many places, ate so much food, met so many people. I’ve seen from luxury places to the poorest areas, from the most modern buildings to the most untouched nature.
Why it didn't change my idea of China?
Simple!
Because I wasn't biased to begin with. I had studied chinese culture and history at school already, like most kids here, and then on my own, with an open mind.
I had tried their food in autenthic restaurants, tried to learn their recipes, I made friends with chinese people, I learnt some language and I did lot of research before traveling there.
It's not hard to understand most of the American misconceptions about China are completely fake and ignorant.

Absolutely!
I had no idea what China was like until I visited. It completely altered my perception of the country.
Since then, I’ve studied China in much greater detail. And I did so without relying on Western media which, frankly, is completely unreliable. I realized that Western media constantly lie about China.
The country is magnificent. The urban areas far surpass what you find in the West. Los Angeles, New York City, Toronto, London, Paris, Berlin, Rome…these great cities don’t hold a candle to China’s greatest cities!
