If you are used to some fermented foods, douzhi actually tastes quite good. I tried it in a restaurant and didn't really know what to expect because a lot of people told me they don't like it but I really enjoyed it especially in combination with some pickled vegetables and jiaoquan that they served it with. I think it is just more of an acquired taste and a lot of people that try it have never eaten something similar. Maybe Derk will like it because he is German and has probably eaten sauerkraut before. It also appears that he is openminded to trying new foods like the silk worms. So, good luck Derk and please enjoy the douzhi

Sunflower seeds are awesome. Usually, they're salted and/or flavour is added (ie. chilli, etc.). You can chew on them a bit and then crack the husk. They're pretty tasty with only a little bit of work required.

My wife actually ate the scorpion, grasshopper, and the fried silkworm pupae. I attempted to eat the silkworm pupae first but ended up almost puking inside the restaurant. I had some of the best Chinese food in Harbin (and huge portions). Chengdu is also awesome. On the other hand, I had some of the worst Chinese food in Shanghai. Love your videos. I am from the north. So when it comes to the silkworms we typically don't eat the skin. Also there should be a hard core inside which we don't eat. I'm very sure the entirety of the worm is edible. It's just that the locals don't like the texture of the skin and the core.
