This post on fellow Europe subreddit surprised me how so many people find pasta with ketchup a disgusting meal. Sure, you need to add cheese and if you are fancy fried egg or sausages but it took me by surprise how many people are so clearly against this meal (even in jest).
We had pasta with ketchup and cheese regularly in our school canteen. It is still a popular meal in our family when we are lazy cooking up something "more complicated". And it is much cheaper and almost similarly tasty version of any tomato-based pasta meal one could make at home (I am gonna get targeted by Italian assassins for saying this I guess).
How do you view pasta with ketchup (and cheese)?

Can't you buy tomato sauce instead of ketchup (if you can't make the sauce yourself)?
Since plenty are saying it's a kids dish. Do kids do not eat the same dishes as adults?

Ketchup and pasta go well together, it's not like people eat it and think "damn, should've bought cheese and oil instead". And btw, the ketchup isn't a substitute for sauce

Pasta with ketchup sounds awful, I'm not even sure why :D. A bottle of ketchup is definitely not cheaper than a can of tomatoes, so ketchup would never be my choice.

Never heard of pasta & ketchup and I've a friend with a ketchup addiction. She has chips with her ketchup rather than ketchup with chips & it's hard to witness especially when hungover. We've had to be like 'Please leave & take your ketchup with you' on occasion.
Edit: If you were being extra lazy here, people would get a pre- made pasta sauce. You can get a big jar of own brand tomato sauce for pasta for around €0.50c.

She and her friends explained it to me when i told them i cook 150g of pasta with salt and oil for breakfast at 6am, only for myself.

idk its not a sin here but i find it weird. literally any tomato sauce works better than ketchup.

At least get a jar of tomato pasta sauce. You only need to heat it up, there's no cooking requiered.

I actually like it a lot, but I eat it pretty rarely as my wife doesn't really lets me. It's kind of a guilty pleasure meal for me. Definitely needs cheese though.

Without being ironic in any way, I love past with ketchup, or even better pasta with tomato paste and some cheese. As a student, I ate it constantly. I actually prefer it to so called Bolognese sause (some meat sause that is sometimes served on spaghetti here)

I "like" it because it was something I had as a kid (with grated cheese). I know it doesn't really taste great, but it just feels good for me to eat it. That's more something I'd eat when I very tired or sick actually.
I totally understand why people don't like it, but comfort foods don't need to taste good, they have to taste like something from childhood.
