Navigation always tries to find a shortcut in the first place. Google map used to direct me to an abandoned road that only half completed full of sand and stones while I was travelling in NZ. My car just kept skidding, so had to drive very very slowly.

Can an engineer pls enlighten me as to the reason you are carving out a section of a side of a mountain for a road and not make it a bit safer by making it wider? It it just cost efficiency or is there some mechanics involved?

Nav app these days should have different class of vehicles (heavy & light) category for different useable roads, not just for pedestrians & cyclists.
