I used to think it was a place of extreme pain, but I actually speculate that it is probably a place of absolute melancholy and nothingness, where the ability to feel things is taken away. Just super depressiveness, but not agony or torture. This is in contrast to Heaven, where one can feel as much joy and/or pain as they please, loosely, recognizing that there are different degrees to glory and principles of functionality might change with them.These beliefs signify of a much more benevolent creator, without taking away from justice and necessity.

I was planning to just leave it for this is an old question but read some answers which made me stop to write. The answer is NO God will not send anyone to hell. We are not sent anywhere we gain the possibility to go to heaven or hell by the way we live. We get what is worthy! There are a few places we can get as reward. There are thousands of ancient texts that provide the simple answer to your question. He would not! The discussion of Heaven and Hell is one far too big for this forum.
