What do Chinese people think of "Chinese" food abroad?

中国人如何看待国外的“中餐”?

As a westerner in China, I struggled with the huge contrast between the food in China and the "Chinese" food we got back home.

作为一名在中国的西方人,我很难适应中国本土食物与我们家乡的“中餐”之间的巨大反差。

The ingredients, the parts of the animals used (bones, fat, tendons etc), flavors and textures were totally different to what I imagined. Of all cuisines I've tried at home vs in the country itself, Chinese is the one that's most different.

食材、动物部位的使用(骨头、脂肪、筋腱等)、风味和口感都与我原先想象的完全不同。在我尝试过的所有菜系中,家乡版本与原产国版本差异最大的就是中餐。

So how do Chinese perceive the "Chinese" food they find in America or the UK vs that within China?
