America produces 24 million barrels of oil per day. That's more than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined. We are the single largest oil producer on the planet.
So why are Americans paying $4 a gallon?
Because our oil gets sold on the global market at world prices. Oil companies export it to the highest bidder. Meanwhile, countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, and even Iran under sanctions subsidize fuel for their own citizens. Saudi Arabia used to charge 9 cents a gallon before 2016. Even after subsidy cuts, they still pay $2.35. Iran gives its citizens 100 liters a month for free.
Every oil-rich nation on earth takes care of its own people at the pump. Except us.
On top of that, we spend more on military than the next 10 countries combined. We patrol the shipping lanes. We secure the Strait of Hormuz. We fund NATO. We protect Europe's energy supply so they can keep their lights on and their cars running.
And what do Americans get for it? $4 a gallon and a thank you card.
We produce the most oil. We spend the most on defense. We secure the global energy supply. And somehow we benefit the least from any of it.
The biggest oil producer on earth should have the cheapest gas on earth. Period.
