Unfortunately the LCS ships in the American navy do not work like they should and cannot effectively counter Iranian mines or escort duties as they can't keep up with the tanker.  The US would need a frigate to be able to handle escort duty but the US doesn't have any frigate.  So the only option is to use the destroyers but that leaves the carriers exposed to drone and missile threats.  The US can strike all ships in the strait that isnt efficient

Just a reminder to everyone. There are open roads from iraq all the way to some oman ports. Arab countries in those roads just needs to unrestrict border crossings for oil and fuel transports. Tankers can then load up those oil and fuel at some ports in oman. Your welcome.

For Iran to take out just one of those would be an utter humiliation for the US. Iran has nothing to lose that is why they are now using their ultimate deterrent disrupting oil shipping through the Strait. Disrupt their oil exports sure that's going to hurt. But that's going to take years to have effect. Look at Russia for instance four years of it and they're still going.
