Dude, Chinese also rely on Russian engines as Chinese engines are crappy. In a full scale war with US, you would still loose due to poor performance of the Russian engines vs US engines. Tejas is facing delays solely due to US engine supply issue.

Chinese can laugh at India for slow developement but India is a democracy unlike China. While not perfect, justice system in India is much more fairer in India. In democracy, development takes time.
Also, India is much more ethical in business, R&D and in dealing with other countries.
If we had the ethics of the Chinese, we too would be into currency manipulation, technology stealing, predatory business etc and grown our economy faster but we chose not to. We have taken the turtle approach... slow n steady but ethical. But strong enough at the same time.
In regards to military engagement between India and China, yes from the outside it seems like China is way ahead. However, there is no transperancy in Chinese system. Dont know how good their equipment is. How reliable they are.
As for India, it has sufficient deterrence against the Chinese. Otherwise China would have attacked India long time back and taken the lands it claimed. 1962 India was not prepared but 2020s India is. Hence, all China is capable at doing is shadily mischiviously grabbing lands only to retreat and return later. Galwan 2020 is an example.
So ya, while China grew fast breaking all international rules, India is growing gradually but respecting all rules. In the long term, other countries will prefer partnership with India over China.
So ya China, you may laugh at India today but eventually, in the long term, Indians will have the last laugh.

Indians, few points for your people: 1. Increase your defence spending to 3% or higher of your GDP ASAP; 2. Buy 60+ F-35As within 5 years; 3. Fast-track AMCA program; 4. Join Uk-Italy-Japan 6th gen fighter program ASAP; 5. Cancel TEDBF program, use F-35C instead (say 40 or so); 6. Reduce Indian Army size while increasing Reserve Forces and paramilitary forces.
