On August 17, 2023, streets near Qing nian da jie came to a standstill as hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the 4 viewing sites for the biggest drone show in Shenyang #history.
We tried getting to Olympic park which had the best view but got stuck at k11 since the bridge was closed and jammed packed with thousands of people.

@JANKO2004 FYI China didn't invent the drone show concept and the US has had done shows for years already. Just not as spectacular maybe but now drone shows in the US are also common and being promoted more because it's environmentally friendly without all the smoke. It does seem like many Americans still prefer traditional fireworks however because it's more exciting with the loud booms. I tend to agree that drone shows are cool but they're not as exciting since fireworks are louder and shake your body with vibration and surprise with each explosion. That's fine too because China makes all the fireworks anyway to sell to the world. ??

IF the world dont turn to shits in 5 years time we can see how well the american opening and closing ceremony for the Summer Olympics 2028 and compare it to the opening and closing ceremony for the Beijing summer Olympics in 2008.

@rsuriyop that's what i was thinking too! And then on top of that, if you look really close in the end videos, you will spot another drone flying above and around the other drones, filming them from angles. It's really spectacular

I came to Shenyang in 2012 and I remember thinking that I made a mistake. It wasn't what i expected. But then I fell in love with the place and stayed. When I look at Shenyang now Vs just 10 years ago I can't believe it's the same place. The expansion of the city, the roads, bridges, and quality of life has increased 10 fold. I must have known deep down that the city is on it's way to greatness??

@kko-punch7059 Definitely not winter haha! July and August are incredibly hot and humid. If you're looking to do outdoors things I'd say probably September since it cools down to a very comfortable temperature but the trees are still pretty green. Or late Spring, probably May or even June. There's a very short window in Spring and Fall when the weather is perfect, the rest of the time we either die from heat or cold ??

China is a kind of nationwide Disneyland. We are sure to be able to see a show at the end of the day. I will be in a few months in China, in Xiangyang to make a one-day visit to 4 historic cities that I have not yet visited, I know that I will end my day with a meal and a show.

I agree, but the city government has put a ban on fireworks in order to not pollute the air and improve the overall health of the city.
